Historia
In 1972, when workers in Pottstown, Pennsylvania, were digging the foundations for a new development, the last thing they expected to find was a skeleton at the bottom of a well. Who the skeleton was and how it got there were two of the long-held secrets kept by the residents of Chicken Hill, the dilapidated neighborhood where immigrant Jews and African Americans lived side by side and shared ambitions and sorrows. Chicken Hill was where Moshe and Chona Ludlow lived when Moshe integrated his theater and where Chona ran the Heaven & Earth Grocery Store.

Historia
This collection includes ten plays by Arthur Miller. In The Crucible, Stacy Keach and Richard Dreyfuss lead an all-star cast in Miller’s searing play about witchcraft that famously mirrors the anti-Communist hysteria that held the United States in its grip. Death of a Salesman follows Willy Loman, the iconic traveling salesman whose family is torn apart by his desperate obsession with greatness. In Incident at Vichy, in Nazi-occupied France, nine men are detained under a shadowy pretext and face a terrifying fate.

Incendiary
Revisado: 01-09-23
Every single solitary American with a brain and the ability to separate from the herd and learn something needs to read this book. This book details the widespread conspiracy to overthrow the U.S. Government. Trump knew he lost the election, but wanted to stay in power by any means. He and the people who support him are a threat to our great nation.

Historia
Spurred by personal tragedy, Elaine Pagels turns to a consideration of the Gnostic Gospels, in particular, the Gospel of Thomas. As opposed to the Gospel of John, which asserted that Jesus was an eternally existing aspect of God who came to earth to save humankind, the "secret" Gospel of Thomas agrees that Jesus was in some sense divine, but says that a streak of divinity can be found in all of us.

Very interesting discussion of the origins and subsequent distortions of the Jesus movement from his death to now. Much pairs with the conclusions I had surmised.

Historia
Acclaimed historian Heather Cox Richardson traces the shifting ideology of the Republican Party from the antebellum era to the Great Recession. While progressive Republicans like Teddy Roosevelt and Dwight Eisenhower revived Lincoln’s vision and expanded the government, their opponents appealed to Americans’ latent racism and xenophobia to regain political power, linking taxation and regulation to redistribution and socialism. In the modern era, the schism within the Republican Party has grown wider, pulling the GOP ever further from its founding principles.

This author never fail# to make me think. At 71, I still love to learn and there are so many insights this young woman brings to the table. This book should be required reading for all university students. But the rest of us would do well to listen and think about this author’s thoughts as well. I could not recommend this book more highly.

Historia
The former Confederate states have continually mythologized the South's defeat to the North, depicting the Civil War as unnecessary, or as a fight over states' Constitutional rights, or as a David v. Goliath struggle in which the North waged "total war" over an underdog South. In The Myth of the Lost Cause, historian Edward Bonekemper deconstructs this multi-faceted myth, revealing the truth about the war that nearly tore the nation apart 150 years ago.

Great Accurate Civil War History
Revisado: 03-19-21
The author covers a myriad of issues from the role of the Daughters of the Confederacy in the myth building post reconstruction, the establishment of rebel statues, and general revision of actual history to the baseless claim the Robert E. Lee was a great military genius.
Everyone interested in the divisions in our nation, will want to read this book
