Wasted a credit on this book because I can't get enough of Jeff Hays - brilliant narration as always.

Found out the original book was toned down for Audible. Still too much sexual violence. I suspect the author has a deep hate for women. Didn't finish this one.

Poor sequel

I'm so glad Audible allows you to reverse purchases. I get very sad when I love the first book in a series, only to find the author headed off in a completely different direction with the second. This is not a bad book, I just found it disappointing in the context of a series.

A large part of this book is devoted to filling in the backstories of the team of scientists with James. Why, and why now? Strong undertones of how badly humanity screwed up - I don't like socio-political agendas in my sci-fi. Then throw in a few ancient Egyptian clichés and that was where I asked for my credit back.

Narrator still great, generally well written and all that, just not a good sequel to an awesome first book. If you love Atlantis and Ancient Egypt origin stories, go for it.

Thoroughly enjoyed this psychological horror. I won't include spoilers but this topic has always been a horror/thriller genre favourite of mine. Love the clever rollercoaster ride the author takes you on. Highly recommend.

Another ex-marine/navy seal fantasy...

... of fighting a zombie apocalypse with a blonde bombshell on his arm which happens to be barbie crossed with GI Jane with an above average IQ. Too much "everybody hates america" and too little zombie action. bleh.

Forces deep self-reflection...

... mostly uncomfortable and very challenging. Brilliant. Time well spent listening to these stories. I got upset, I got annoyed and I laughed out loud but mostly I challenged my beliefs about the meaning of life. We should all do that from time to time.

Doesn't actually provide practical, meaningful advice to learn self control. Example: if you want to do more exercise, simply set your intention to do exercise when you get home from work.. he explains that having a plan removes the battle you have with yourself... yeah right! I get home and the couch always wins over exercise, regardless of the plan. This book is probably a nice analysis for people who already have self control. I found it annoying and patronising.
