How I wish I could read these books in their native tongue to get the nuances I’m sure are being missed in translation. Absolutely phenomenal writing, and excellent narration.

Such an impactful end to a series. So happy to have an ending, and with the original narrator Emma.

She did fantastic, despite what others said. There were a lot of switching between characters, and it’s so hard when they are all in first person to narrate. I think that some readers are being a bit too harsh!

The reason I like all of Lauren Layne’s books is that her characters feel like real people. There’s no stereotypical flat character once she really delves into the story. The storylines are predictable yes, but the characters are enjoyable enough for me to keep reading and enjoying her books. And after reading several of her stories I can say her main characters in different books are actually different!
Narrators: male narrator was GREAT. Whenever he read I was entirely immersed in the story. The female narrator was not bad by any means. But I kept noticing her voice and tone I flections, which brought me out of the story. Wish the male narrator read the whole book.

Not in Three Pines. Still a beautiful story, though a tad dark for my taste. The character development is interesting and engaging. I enjoyed the story arch. Overall - it felt like the amount of content for the book was too much for the given timeline. I think they covered 48 hours, and the character arcs seemed like it would take weeks to develop. At one point Lt Bouvier even said it felt like weeks had gone by. As much as I love inspector gamasche, I missed Claire and Olivia, and Ruth and Gabri and even Peter (only a little).

Not as good as Suddenly Royal Series

This book wasn’t bad. It was written well enough. Characters are about the same as what you expect from author Chase. I can’t honestly ever tell her characters apart. All you do is change the name from book to book and you have basically the same person. Same female and male lead. Same parental figures. Same cute toddler/kid saying funny things for laughs... Same younger siblings...

This story plot line was a LOT darker than the Suddenly Royal plot lines. This one dealt with PTSD and broken families. I picked up this book needing a light read with a happy ending. I was not expecting such a dark and depressing book. Granted it is a new series, but I did not get the dark vibe from the plot preview I read.

Narrators were ok. Male voice was better than the female’s. Her way of narrating is very serious. She has a husky deep voice, and it sounded anxious the entire time, even in scenes that were supposed to be happy. It made me have a hard time liking Madi with such a depressive narrator. I thought it made the story a bit darker than needed.

I probably won’t read/listen to the next book in this series. Just not for me.

Finally the storyline is going somewhere. Honestly, the last two books should have been. Single novel, but oh well. This book was not as funny for me, but since there was an actual plot this time around I still thoroughly enjoyed it. Narrator is spot on as usual.

I forgot how seriously hilarious this author is! I laughed out loud through the whole book. Only gave 4 stars because there isn’t much of a plot. It’s not too different from the last two books (prequel and book #1) But it is thoroughly entertaining for very little plot. I thought the first two in the series had a better outlined story.

Overall- It started out REALLY good... then... about 2 chapters in the story felt rushed and a bit predictable. Extremely rushed. They went from running to having sex for the first time in about one sentence. I was totally confused and thought my audiobook had skipped. I relistened 2 times before I figured out that was actually the way it was written. It just seemed weird. Throughout the entire book I thought all transitions were off. I probably won’t listen to another book from her... unless it’s on the Romance package, then I might just because it’s basically free. And it isn’t the worst audiobook I’ve ever listened too. It didn’t really make sense to have a male and female narrator to me either. The book was written in 3rd character narrative, so even though specific chapters were more focused on the male and female leads it wouldn’t have mattered if one person read the book. And with this particular pairing of narrators they pronounced their Bayou words differently and gave the same character’s different accents. Ugh. It was just a hot mess. I think that if only one narrator had done the job it would have been exponentially better.

Loved the first book. Liked the second one. This one was utterly lacking. Other than one brief scene where Max mutters in his native tongue this could have happened in any country. I was barely paying any attention the entire story. Struggling through. This was just riddled with cliches- prince that hates being royal. Abusive alcoholic father. 6 year old boy that acts like a baby one moment then says something profound the next. The main characters didn’t seem real.

When I saw that Ralph Cosham was the narrator I just knew this would be a great version to listen to - and boy did he nail it! His beautiful deep voice carried me into the story right away.

The story itself: pretty good. I prefer the broadway show, but this story does delve a little deeper into the backstories of the characters. I thought several chapters to be interminable - E.G the Torture Room.

I’m overall very glad to have purchased this as it was an enjoyable listen.
