I don't mean that in a bad way, but this book and his voice make me feel calm, and are great for listening to just before falling asleep.
this is a great intro to Buddhism, it is easy to listen to, though not always easy to follow. it is by no means thorough or deep. it is great to pick up and put down as any section you listen to delivers a little of the Dharma.
if you don't get sleepy like I seem to do, you can follow it more linearly, as it does go over some themes like the 4 Noble truths the 8 fold path, etc, but I seem to get lost in it. I like it enough to go back to it regularly, just pick where I left off and take a bit in.
i must say, I am very turned off by his use of another's poem and him changing the line "faithless and therefore trustworthy" to "faithful and therefore trustworthy". that's very bad form, if you don't agree with the poem, don't use it! to change the meaning of that line to the exact opposite of the author's intent is not cool. I have to skip over this part now everytime I get to it. yuck.

if you're looking to get an intro to Buddhism look elsewhere! I'd suggest the dalai lama's How to Practice, and maybe Jack Kornfield's Buddhism for Beginners. but if you find yourself rolling your eyes at some of that, and here your inner Buddha calling B.S. on some of it, this book will not disappoint.
This book is a very rational reading of the Buddha's encounters and message, how it could have been bastardized by the organized religion, and how it can be reclaimed.
it is told through his encounters with many different individuals, which can be interesting, but very dense. this book is pretty academic, so if you're looking for prose and neat little stories, again, look elsewhere.
if you have heard the Buddha call you to seek your own path of truth and not bow to authority, or accepted knowledge, this is a book with many ideas worth considering.

Fantastic Twists and Turns

I got on to Chesterton after seeing his name on various quotes in Neil Gaiman's work, and I was not let down by this story. It is a great weave, and though the final twist could disapoint some I found it put a smile on my face. (but I won't spoil it for you)

I have never wanted to stop listening to anything more in my life. The ego of Lewis is totally out of control as he dissertates in a thinly veiled story what he feels is right and wrong. I made myself finish the listen since I thought subjecting myself to strong opposing opinions would in some masochistic way be good for me. Torture!

I guess it should come as no surprise that Tolstoy is awesome? Both these stories are amazing and moving and human and wow. First thing I've even read/listened of Tolstoy, I think I need to check out some more.
