Historia
On December 3, 1999, the call crackled in to the men of the Worchester, Massachusetts Fire Department: a three-alarm warehouse blaze in a six-story windowless colossus of brick and mortar. What happened next - and how their lives and community were changed forever - offers an unprecedented look at these heroic men whose job it is to rush into burning buildings when everyone else just wants out.

Chapters out of order
Revisado: 12-16-21
I read this book every December, so I’m familiar with the timeline of events. The chapters involving the fire are out of order which throws off the sequence of events in the story. Other than that it’s a great book.

Historia
Author Jeff Spevak was confronted with a dilemma: How do you tell the story of a man who can’t bring himself to talk about the most epic moment of his life? A clever fellow who’d scrapped to survive in a fashion that seems quaint today, Coleman tested himself as a teenager by swimming across lakes, building homes from foraged lumber, and running a navy carpentry shop as though he were a member of the scamming crew of McHale’s Navy. He was a self-taught sailor who’d become a legend on Lake Ontario. At age 96, Ernie was still sailing.

Not much about Savo Island
- De Jason Kelley en 09-22-22
This was a biography, not an account of war
Revisado: 01-17-20
This book was the biography of Ernie Coleman, not the account of the battle of Savo island. It was only given one vague chapter. The rest was about Ernie’s life mostly excluding his time in the war. It was not what the title and cover advertised it to be.
