I enjoyed the easy listening, humorous dialog, and a bit of the predictable college jock w/ a heart of gold meets socially awkward nerd story line. Nothing too heavy or heart wrenching -- just a fun jaunt thru a time warp.

Leslie got big heart and big game!

I'm surprised how much I loved her story! Granted, the sheer rapid fire of f-bombs, especially when she was hurt and enraged, made it necessary to listen primarily with my Ipods. Lol! Nevertheless, her story was compelling, at times hilarious, and other times, gut wrenching painful. I appreciated her growing personal insights, and practical advice that could apply to every work situation and relationship. Her funeral plans with Jason "Mimosa" and Lizzo are the best!

Overall, I enjoyed this story. It dragged in places, heroine could really be a pain with her rigidity in almost all matters of life. But liked the story better as it progressed.

Start my day w/ Michelle & a cuppa café...

Like so many, I am inspired by Michelle Obama. Noting as a woman of color, I watched and listened as she and the family balanced on the thin highwire of those 8 dynamic years w/ Pres. Barack Obama. It's wonderful to hear her strong, kind voice, her personal reflections, and humor in her own space as a leader and advocate. Can't wait for the next podcast!

Thoroughly enjoyed this story!

As this story rolled further along, I had a harder time doing anything that would disrupt my listening to the audio. The only point that messed with my bliss (and maybe due to the heroine being such a precise character) was the consistent mispronunciation of the well-known fitness OG, Jack LaLanne!

Bittersweet story of friendship and love in WWII

Ambitious story that describes both the Japanese American and Jewish European experience during WWII. Historical episodes are described through the letters sent over the years between 2 unlikely penpals. As their relationship grows and matures, the violence of WWII eventually shifts and abruptly detours their reality and communications.

Now more than ever...

Being that my father's family is from San Francisco, this story has special meaning for me. My g'father was separated from his family because he was a typesetter for the Nichibei Times newspaper and deemed suspect. My father's family was never quite the same after the war, and their eventual relocation away from J Town.

Sooo much better than the FOB TV series!!

So much better than I expected. Although I'm third generation and older than Eddie, his story was fully relatable. The harsh realities of figuring out where you fit, family and historical trauma, poverty, racism, cultural complexities, etc., are shared life themes. I thoroughly enjoyed listening to him share his personal reflections!
