Revisado: 02-04-25
This was an entertaining read, just like every title by Scalzi! And it is made most enjoyable by Wil Wheaton’s narration! Highly recommended, especially if you love cats. Not me. I’m allergic!

Reclusive comic book artist Trip Spector spends his life doodling super-square, straitlaced superheroes, hiding from his fans, and crushing on his unattainable boss until he meets the dork of his dreams. Silas Goolsby is a rowdy FX makeup creator with a loveless love life and a secret streak of geek who yearns for unlikely rescues and a truly creative partnership. Against their better judgment, they fall victim to chemistry, and what starts as infatuation quickly grows tender and terrifying.

Good Idea, Bad Narration
Revisado: 01-13-25
The book was well written and thought out. The romance was nice and the sex was hot. My #1 complaint is the mis-pronunciations threw me out of the book so much that I lost sight of what was going on in the story. I myself mispronounced hors d’oeuvres for many years having read it many times before hearing it spoken aloud. Honest mistake, perhaps. Bad editing, certainly. A good editor would have caught these mistakes before it was published. Maybe they didn’t have the cajoles to make it right.

Historia
I left behind my countryside hometown of Spruce, Texas and my teenage tormentor Chad Landry to start over, pursue a career, and make a new name for myself. Fast forward 10 years, and I'm back in Spruce for my high school reunion to confront my past and to face the boy who made my teen years hell. I'm no longer the vulnerable teenager I once was, and I'll guarantee you this: Chad won't have any power over me. But all the mental preparation in the world couldn't possibly prepare me for the sight of the hot, gorgeous, and hunky rancher that Chad has become.

Memories
Revisado: 10-05-24
I’m not sure what it was about this book, but it brought up a lot of issues for me from the time I was growing up. High school was kind of difficult for me. I certainly felt the connection to the main character and his need to make sure everyone knows how much they hurt him. All in all, this was a great read, and I highly recommend it.

Historia
Inspired by her research for the hit podcast Ultra, Rachel Maddow charts the rise of a wild American strain of authoritarianism that has been alive on the far-right edge of our politics for the better part of a century. Before and even after our troops had begun fighting abroad in World War II, a clandestine network flooded the country with disinformation aimed at sapping the strength of the U.S. war effort and persuading Americans that our natural alliance was with the Axis, not against it.

Well Written and Researched
Revisado: 12-05-23
This was a well written and researched book by an amazingly gifted author and journalist. Here is hoping history will show many, like those in this book, who rise to take down fascism in all its forms.

The world outside has grown toxic, the view of it limited, talk of it forbidden. The remnants of humanity live underground in a single silo. But there are always those who hope, who dream. These are the dangerous people, the residents who infect others with their optimism. Their punishment is simple. They are given the very thing they want: They are allowed to go outside.

This was a great book. It sits up there with many inventive authors like Stephen King and Frank Herbert. I enjoyed it thoroughly and especially loved the character of Juliet! If you like the show, you will love this book!!

Not A Zombie Book
Revisado: 04-26-23
It is very refreshing to read a post-apocalyptic tale that doesn’t involve zombies or atomic wars. The love story was very well done, however, I would have liked for there to be a bit more romance (kissing, holding hands, sneaking knowing glances). Having said that, the characters were very well fleshed out and I related to them almost the entire time. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a queer YA novel.

Historia
Long before hitting the stage as the lead singer of the iconic glam rock band Scissor Sisters, Jake Shears was Jason Sellards, a teenage boy living a fraught life, resulting in a confusing and confining time in high school as his classmates bullied him and few teachers showed sympathy. It wasn’t until years later, while living and studying in New York City, that Jason would find his voice as an artist and, with a group of friends and musicians who were also thirsting for stardom and freedom, form the band Scissor Sisters.

Historia
A down-to-earth global pop star. A deeply spiritual, cerebral powerhouse. A famously outspoken introvert. For her millions of fans, and the few unacquainted, defining rock luminary Alanis Morissette is an exercise in dichotomies and nuance. And though her most formidable traits are seemingly at odds with one another, they are, oddly enough, completely emblematic of all of us: complex, conflicting, and, most importantly, ever evolving. With her striking command of language and profound emotional fluency, the 46-year-old covers an enormous amount of personal ground with listeners.

Historia
Jazz Bashara is a criminal. Well, sort of. Life on Artemis, the first and only city on the moon, is tough if you're not a rich tourist or an eccentric billionaire. So smuggling in the occasional harmless bit of contraband barely counts, right? Not when you've got debts to pay and your job as a porter barely covers the rent. Everything changes when Jazz sees the chance to commit the perfect crime, with a reward too lucrative to turn down.

Wow :: Rosario is AMAZING!
Revisado: 12-15-17
Rosario Dawson was an amazing narrator. I cannot think of a better person to voice this book. She did great! The story was pretty amazing as well. The characters were relatable and well thought out. The one criticism is (***SPOILER***) I do not relate well to people who do bad things and blow stuff up. That felt wrong to me and took away from the story.
