Historia
Angela Marie has spent all of her thirty-five years on Meadow Falls, the farm that’s been in her Texas family for generations. It wasn’t her plan. It was an obligation. Now that her parents—less loving kin than strangers—have passed, the whole shebang belongs to Angela. And a legacy she never wanted is hers to uphold. She can’t forsake it now. Her beloved nanny, Mandy, who was always more of a mother, needs a caregiver herself.

Lovely

I had a hard time turning this one off. Despite its relaxed pace, I was caught up in the story every second, with likeable characters and beautiful narration, complete with Texas drawls.

Historia
Ex-Army paratrooper Griffin “Fin” Brooks thought he left danger behind when his battlefield injuries forced him to pursue a new career in marine biology. But one fateful night off the coast of South Africa, a ship nearly crashes into him and his loyal golden retriever, Jacques. Not just any ship. A starship. Though its alien pilot is dead, the rare extraterrestrial animal inside is not. Fin learns the creature is being smuggled across the galaxy when a pair of interstellar visitors respond to the crash. But those same investigators accuse Fin and his dog of crimes he didn’t even know existed.

Identifiable hero
Revisado: 07-01-24
I liked the hero/narrator even before anything really happened in the story. No matter how weird, everything was logically believable. I hated the cliffhanger ending, however.

Historia
The Bodies of Others is about how we came to the harrowing civilizational crossroads at which we find ourselves—engaged in a war against vast impersonal forces with limitless power over our lives and which threaten the freedoms we have always taken for granted. In her most provocative book yet, Dr. Naomi Wolf shows how these forces—from Big Tech and Big Pharma to the CCP and our oligarchical elites—seized upon two years of COVID-19 panic in sinister new ways, to not only undermine our republic but to fundamentally reorient human relations.

Admirable
Revisado: 01-28-23
I see it happen and still can't understand it. Why the media establishment, especially social media, censors reasonable truths because they disagree with authorized dictates in our supposedly free culture has never made sense to me. This book makes more logical sense than so much of the advice we were given during the epidemic and are still bombarded with. I appreciate the author's courage.

Still good
Revisado: 01-04-23
This book is weaker than its predecessors but still very good. I missed the interaction between the heroine and an AI, which makes the other books so tense and intriguing, but this one is well worth reading.

Ellie Masters comes out of a coma to find herself the only inhabitant of an eerily empty moon station. She’s not on Earth any more; she’s not even in the right solar system. So when someone reaches out to her, tells her he’s her friend, she’s happy to believe it. The alternative is to be stuck alone with an enemy. Renn Sorvihn has been chasing a rogue Tecran ship for over a month. Another good one
Revisado: 12-27-22
I was again pleased to enjoy yet another twist in this series that could all too easily become predictable. Though the epilogue wraps things up nicely, I can see at least one more book in the series , or maybe a spinoff, with the intriguing elements introduced in this story.

Historia
Earth is no longer the center of the universe. After the invention of the faster-than-light jump drive, humanity is rapidly establishing new colonies. But the vast distances of space mean that the old order of protection and interstellar law offered by Earth has ceased to exist. When a nearby world attacks, the new colony of Glenlyon turns to Robert Geary, a young former junior fleet officer, and Mele Darcy, a onetime enlisted marine.

Another Winner
Revisado: 09-22-22
Like its predecessors in this trilogy, this had good action and scene -setting to keep me interested all the way through. Also like its predecessors, it slowed sometimes with too many planning details and the attack on the bridge dragged too long, but these are minor problems. I'd like to have seen Samara do the proposing or something dual, but it was still a good scene.

Plenty of peril in this story along with brainwork. The chemistry between Valentin and Sumara is well depicted so I'd like to have seen more than the brief meeting moments they had.

I wanted more
Revisado: 09-14-22
Frankly, there wasn't enough of this book. I enjoyed it so much I wanted more of it. I liked the unique political situation and the uses and drawbacks of technology. The world was minimally but adequately described characters' likeability or villainy believable. I'm eager to dig into the next book in the series.

Another good one
Revisado: 07-24-22
I was disappointed at first to learn this story isn't from Tavi's point of view, but that didn't last long. It's every bit as good as the first book with well developed characters marvelously different from each other and the other characters. The beginning was a bit slow compared to book one, but still interesting. I'm eager for the next book!
