Japanese Short Stories for Beginners Volume 2 bounces perfectly off of the original Japanese Short Stories book and taught me hundreds of new words that I can now read very well. Using the audio book is a great experience. I practiced my pronunciation and sharpened by instincts for pitch accent. In conjunction with the audio book, I read the Amazon Kindle book and I used Nihongo Master to drill all the vocab in this book, which is in incredibly good method of study. I would reference the Kindle book and the audio book very often as I was drilling the vocabulary. After finishing this book, I know for a fact that I can read and pronounce all the words and sentences in this book. Reading is arguably the largest barrier in learning the Japanese language. But reading is awesome because you can practice your pronunciation and reading in 100% self-study. After learning to read and pronounce all the words in this book, I know I'll be able to use them in conversation one day! For now, I just have to keep reading and keep learning new vocabulary!
