Historia
There’s chaos in Hollywood at the end of the New Year’s Eve countdown. Working her graveyard shift, LAPD detective Renée Ballard waits out the traditional rain of lead as hundreds of revelers shoot their guns into the air. Only minutes after midnight, Ballard is called to a scene where a hardworking auto shop owner has been fatally hit by a bullet in the middle of a crowded street party.

Lame attempt
Revisado: 03-04-22
First, loved the book and the story and extremely disappointed at the same time.
Make no mistake about it: this is not a Harry Bosch story.
This is an attempt to introduce Ballard. This is 4/5 Ballard and 1/5 Bosch.

Painfully finished
Revisado: 07-09-19
I had high hopes from this title and it had it’s moments, but fizzles and became dreadfully laborious to complete.
I wish I could ask for my credit back but I finished it so you can avoid it.
It was downright boring and not funny over 80% of the book. If you want entertainment, look elsewhere unless you are a die-hard Spade fan.

It fizzled. The story is engaging and fun for the first half but then the story turns to childish dialogue and boring.i listener to the end uninterestingly just to find out how the author gets out of the hole.

Revisado: 04-09-18
Would you listen to The War of Art again? Why?
NO; I will read the text. The narrator is ear fatiguingly combative and in your face. Someone forgot to tell him that this book is not about the war, but about a subject.
What other book might you compare The War of Art to and why?
Most Seth Godin books are based on the same/similar theme.
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of George Guidall?
Hard to say, but he is not the right fit. this is not a performing book as a novel. I would choose a narrator with a gentle voice and a different cadence and a few octave lower. This one is a preacher narrating Iliad as the battle rages on.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
NOOOOOO. I an hardly take 10 min of him.
Any additional comments?
I find some of the definitions author makes, i.e Pro vs Amateur, extremely narrow minded and inaccurately depicted. I am surprised by his careless definitions on such things.

Historia
Lewis Howes grew up as an athlete. He was a two-sport All-American and went on to play football professionally. Howes then transferred his competitive nature from sports to business, building his podcast, The School of Greatness, into a global phenomenon. But his whole identity was built on misguided beliefs about what "masculinity" was: dangerous, false ideas learned from teammates and coaches in locker rooms and stereotypes in the media. Like so many men, Howes grew up to be angry, frustrated, and always chasing something that was never enough.

Historia
In 2001 Mo Gawdat realized that despite his incredible success, he was desperately unhappy. A lifelong learner, he attacked the problem as an engineer would: examining all the provable facts and scrupulously applying logic. Eventually, his countless hours of research and science proved successful, and he discovered the equation for permanent happiness. Thirteen years later, Mo's algorithm would be put to the ultimate test. After the sudden death of his son, Ali, Mo and his family turned to his equation—and it saved them from despair.

Power of Now retold, honest, and heartfelt
Revisado: 04-26-17
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
yes, it is insightful and passionate.
What did you like best about this story?
Mo's heartfelt tone and story told in his words
Which character – as performed by Mo Gawdat – was your favorite?
himself
What did you learn from Solve for Happy that you would use in your daily life?
It is the many times told story of change your thoughts, change your life. Make peace with the ugly and be peaceful in your pain.
Do not fight and just follow the path of life.
Any additional comments?
This is a retold story spoken by Ekhart Tolle and many others. At times it feels like Power of Now retold and rewritten n another tone. The similarities are eerily the same. Sprinkle in a bit of engineer and I Do Not Have Enough Faith to be an Atheist, you'd arrive here.
The book is compelling and honest. At time is is difficult to listen with dry eyes. Mo's pain is real and so is his resolve to carry the torch for Ali.

Before Jet Li, Jacki Chan, Jean Claude Van Damme, and Steven Seagal, there was Bruce Lee. Bruce Lee's legend is considered one of the unique success tales in Hollywood. Just like any other man who thrived to succeed, Lee's journey was also full of ups and downs. But he justly did overcome the obstacles and all adversities to achieve stardom which at first was seemingly obscure to him.

Revisado: 12-16-16
What disappointed you about Bruce Lee: His Life and Tips for Success?
This is a poor excuse of a book and shameful to be carried here. It is written by a 10th grader whom has failed the class.
The narrator sounds like a late night infomercial reader; it is hurried, loud, and listenable.
This is not a book and more of a short essay.
What was most disappointing about J.D. Rockefeller’s story?
poorly written, organized, and researched. A highschooler could have written a better essay.
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Kevin Theis?
unlistenable, shouting, and nervous
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Bruce Lee: His Life and Tips for Success?
the whole thing. this is not a book and more like a short essay

What would have made Predictive Analytics better?
Make it abridged, have another performer. Frantela is unbearable.
How did the narrator detract from the book?
His lame attempt to mimic the authors delivery style.
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Predictive Analytics?
cut it to one third of what it is today.
Any additional comments?
Yea; tell Frantela not to EVER try to mimic the author.

Science is incapable of answering everything
Revisado: 07-17-13
Would you try another book from John Brockman and/or John Allen Nelson and Khristine Hvam ?
unlikely
What could John Brockman have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
be more broad and not be stuck with the idea that science is know-all
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
The sadness that steams from the idea that a limited man-made science with limited vocabulary is capable of answering the limitless.
the intellectual arrogance of the scientists quoted in the book was so narrow minded and out of touch with reality that makes the book monotonically unreadable.
The ideas discussed are only related to small and insignificant species (humans) whom trying desperately make sense of things so to compartmentalize them and to make sense of the only in that fashion.
