Historia
In the chaos of 14th-century England and France, wine is the nectar of angels - a valuable commodity buttressing kingdoms and vaulting vast fortunes. A mysterious old archer named David Arrowsmith recounts his tale to an eager French chronicler, Jean Créton, when the latter learns that his mission to Scotland seems a failure. The burden of Arrowsmith's story rests with Créton, who suddenly finds himself writing about a seemingly cursed infant that barely escapes the grip of the Black Death in rural Wales when his family dies.

Historia
It was medieval England’s immortal marriage - Eleanor of Aquitaine and Henry II, bound by passion and ambition, certain to leave a legacy of greatness. But while lust would divide them, it was friendship - and ultimately faith - that brought bloodshed into their midst. It began with Thomas Becket, Henry’s closest confidant, and his elevation to be archbishop of Canterbury. It ended with a perceived betrayal that made a royal murder seem inevitable. Along the way were enough scheming, seductions, and scandals to topple any kingdom but their own....

Absolutely loved it. A must read for all..
Revisado: 05-01-13
Where does Orphan Train rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
top 5
What did you like best about this story?
the realness without details of gore.
Have you listened to any of Jessica Almasy and Suzanne Toren ’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
no i have not but it was still very nicely done.
If you could take any character from Orphan Train out to dinner, who would it be and why?
Vivian she is such an amazing person to have gone through so much and can still show love in the end to a stranger that needs her. I so wanted to be able to make all those people be punished for the things that they did to these children from the train.. And for the narrow minded officials that let them happen!!!!!!
Any additional comments?
I was lured into reading the book but other comments and I needed a different kind of read after reading back to back 2 of Edward Rutherfurd books. This was perfect change before I dive into Paris..
