Excellent story. Better than the previous one (an anonymous girl), whose ending felt rushed and dissonant

Love This Clancy Production
Revisado: 06-19-20
I read many reviews prior to getting this audiobook, and was hesitant. Instead I found a brilliant book that takes care to build out the characters layer by layer, a technique not necessarily appreciated by readers looking for fast paced books that defy logic or even realism. This book is in the same vein as many Nelson DeMille books, as well as Jason Matthews’ Red Sparrow trilogy. A patient groundswell rising deceptively slow prior to the tsunami racing down at you. Highly recommend this to anyone bored by conventional spy thrillers with too much invested in unrealistic situations, and too shallow on predictable character.

Historia
Twenty-year-old Kendele Byers is savagely killed and buried in a shallow grave. She had a violent past, a bizarre, kinky line of work, and the suspect list grows longer every day. But when another woman is murdered, Detective Mitchell Lonnie realizes that there's something much more sinister afoot: a connection between the two murders. Both victims had received a clue hinting at their oncoming demise several minutes before they were attacked. There's a serial killer in Glenmore Park.

Good and bad
Revisado: 05-08-20
Let me start by saying I did enjoy the narrators voice. I will also add that I enjoyed the plot. This is a police procedural so granted it’s going to follow a specific path. What I found distracting was the writer’s style of narration. There are too many phrases that are canned, overused, and the overall feeling of these is disingenuous to the story line. The writer sounds amateurish, using superlatives that are superfluous ... too many descriptors where only 1 would suffice. Also, there were several errors, mixed pronouns specifically that were confusing. I found myself having to track back 2 to 3 minutes and re-listen to be sure I was hearing what I was hearing and not confusing characters. No, I am not a professional writer, but I do edit fiction for a living. Overall I enjoyed the book but I would hope for the author’s “voice” to mature a little more in the next book. Not the worst I have listened to, but room for improvement to be sure.

Revisado: 04-29-20
First, the ending .... nooooooo! Second, the plot, insanity. I cannot wait for more from this author, his work surpasses every other suspense/spy thriller writer of this genre. I’ve finished all 3 books, I’m heartbroken and exhausted and bereft of words.

Historia
Alicia Berenson’s life is seemingly perfect. A famous painter married to an in-demand fashion photographer, she lives in a grand house with big windows overlooking a park in one of London’s most desirable areas. One evening, her husband, Gabriel, returns home late from a fashion shoot, and Alicia shoots him five times in the face and then never speaks another word. Alicia’s refusal to talk, or give any kind of explanation, turns a domestic tragedy into something far grander, a mystery that captures the public imagination and casts Alicia into notoriety.
