Historia
Colonel Butler has paid his dues and just wants to enjoy his retirement on a remote planet. But the galaxy has had other plans. He has been roped into searching for a politician’s missing son and an industry magnate’s missing daughter. He has been kidnapped, violated numerous laws, and caused the destruction of colonial facilities. He’s famous—or infamous, depending on who you ask—praised and reviled in equal measure across the galaxy for his exploits.

This one departs from the exciting stories in the rest of the series. Kind of boring. Maybe I missed the point? Author is great and deserves an occasional mulligan

Historia
Half a century after the Doomsday Battle, the uneasy balance of Dark Forest Deterrence keeps the Trisolaran invaders at bay. Earth enjoys unprecedented prosperity due to the infusion of Trisolaran knowledge. With human science advancing daily and the Trisolarans adopting Earth culture, it seems that the two civilizations will soon be able to coexist peacefully as equals, without the terrible threat of mutually assured annihilation. Historia
When the dust settled and the blood dried after the Battle of Plataea, Greeks might have thought that their freedom was secured. But before the corpse of the Great King's general was cold, Athens and Sparta began to bicker over dividing up the spoils. After an autumn of victory, it's a long cold winter among the burned cities and destroyed shrines of Greece, and a hungry spring. And when Arimnestos goes to sea to cruise the Persian-held coasts, he finds that Persia is still not beaten...and that old alliances are now fraying.

Too simple, doesn’t develop the story or characters
Revisado: 08-11-21
Too simplistic. Doesn’t really demonstrate how or why Hawkward was so successful. Intelligence, business-like approach to war. This story was mostly telling telling, not showing. Didn’t accurately represent military leadership or the bond between soldiers.
Id recomendable skipping this and checking out Christian Cameron, Bernard Cromwell.
I read both 1&2 of this series

author didn’t do adequate research into the era
Revisado: 10-25-18
The main issue I have is that the author either didn’t do any research for the book or st the very least didn’t do enough research. He badly missed the mark on religión, tactics and more.. another issue is that the author doesn’t understand leadership let alone military leadership. That’s a shame because it’s an integral piece to military/ historical fiction.
that doesn’t matter to you than by all means give it a whirl. You’ll probably enjoy it. The narrator is excellent

Historia
While Uhtred might have regained his family’s fortress, it seems a peaceful life is not to be - as he is under threat from both an old enemy and a new foe. The old enemy comes from Wessex, where a dynastic struggle will determine who will be the next king. And the new foe is Sköll, a Norseman, whose ambition is to be king of Northumbria and who leads a frightening army of wolf-warriors, men who fight half-crazed in the belief they are indeed wolves. Uhtred, believing he is cursed, must fend off one enemy while he tries to destroy the other.

Historia
Deep below the University, there is a dark place. Few people know of it: a broken web of ancient passageways and abandoned rooms. A young woman lives there, tucked among the sprawling tunnels of the Underthing, snug in the heart of this forgotten place. Her name is Auri, and she is full of mysteries. The Slow Regard of Silent Things is a brief, bittersweet glimpse of Auri’s life, a small adventure all her own. At once joyous and haunting, this story offers a chance to see the world through Auri’s eyes.

If you’ve read name of the wind you should read this.
Revisado: 01-29-18
There’s no dialog and no characters other than Auri. That said it really shines a light on her in an interesting way. I think that most of us have underestimated her or written her off as just silly and broken from the name of the wind. However, in this story we see what she really is, which i think will shed a tiny bit of light on what might come in Doors of Stone.
