Historia
We measure rainfall and radiation, the depths of space and the emptiness of atoms, calories and steps, happiness and fear. If we could not measure then we could not observe the world around us; we could not experiment, learn, and co-operate. But why did this urge to measure flourish? And when did measurement become ubiquitous? It is an incredible story that spans hunter-gatherer societies to ancient Egyptians, the French Revolution to the relentless quantification of the 21st-century self. It is a tale that tracks humanity's search for dependable truths in a chaotic universe.

A book worth listening, but…
Revisado: 01-12-23
As a nerd I wished there had been more technical information about the current standards, how the kilogram is made, for example. But I did enjoy the book and would recommend it.

Historia
Simon is the best delivery boy that Mr Edwards’s restaurant has ever had. He’s on time every time, and he’s gotten nothing but good reviews. But he needs more money. His mother’s medical treatment won’t pay for itself, and his father is already working three jobs to try to make ends meet. But it might just be his lucky day: Mr. Edwards has another job for him. It’s more delivery work, but not the usual kind. You might even say that it’s out of this world. Oh well. Beggars can’t be choosers, and the pay is fantastic.

If you need something really light…
Revisado: 11-21-22
I’m not going to say this is a bad book, but for the science fiction crowd, there’s no science here, just fantasy. I kind of enjoyed it but mainly because I really needed something light, very light. Go for it if you feel like it, but be warned: it’s more Narnia than Interstelar!

A colorful surprise!
Revisado: 03-14-18
I was looking for a watercolor audio book I could listen on my way to work. I know that an audiobook about watercolor painting is a somewhat counter intuitive notion, but I decided to give it a try. What a wonderful surprise! This book is just a gem! I would happily pay ten times more for it. The author is able to present the most important concepts of the technique. He also gives great tios and suggestions, as well as encouragement for beginners and iniciated watercolorists and sketchers alike. I’ll be listening to the audiobook again and again, and I strongly suggest you do the same!

Historia
Jazz Bashara is a criminal. Well, sort of. Life on Artemis, the first and only city on the moon, is tough if you're not a rich tourist or an eccentric billionaire. So smuggling in the occasional harmless bit of contraband barely counts, right? Not when you've got debts to pay and your job as a porter barely covers the rent. Everything changes when Jazz sees the chance to commit the perfect crime, with a reward too lucrative to turn down.

Future of the past! (Not many spoilers)
Revisado: 11-26-17
A story developed in a moon base, in the middle 2070s, without any mention to robots or AI??? With convenience store cashiers? Welding guilds??? Seriously??? A brasilian cartel named O Palácio? A mob scientist from Manaus???
Look, I’m brasilian and it’s all the dumbest thing I’ve ever read! Total lack or research about Brazil. Lame plot, old, sterotyped characters: The Barman, The Cop, The Nerd, The Strict Father, The Evil Assassin... Contrabandists, oh, please...
I’m returning this book. I wish I could get my listening hours back!

Historia
An inspirational memoir of space exploration and hard-won wisdom, from an astronaut who has spent a lifetime making the impossible a reality. Colonel Chris Hadfield has spent decades training as an astronaut and has logged nearly 4,000 hours in space. During this time he has broken into a Space Station with a Swiss army knife, disposed of a live snake while piloting a plane, been temporarily blinded while clinging to the exterior of an orbiting spacecraft, and become a YouTube sensation with his performance of David Bowie's ‘Space Oddity' in space.

An awe inspiring book
Revisado: 11-18-16
To be honest I had never heard of Commander Hadfield. I stumbled uppon this book on the internet. What a piece of luck! Chris Hadfield takes us with him in a amazing voyage that zips through time, space, body and soul.
Like him I also saw the Moon landing as a child, and also wanted to be an astronaut. This book has helped me fullfill part of that dream, and gave me a different, better perspective of my life right here, on Earth. (I'm not a native speaker, apologies for misspelings and mistakes)

What a way to start listening to books!
I found the story, history and narration, excellent.
This audio book kept me company night and day, through lonely lunches and traffic jams... I was able to match the events with those in my family's history and my own. I would imagine where we were, and what we were doing, from the birth of my grandmother, in 1895 to me starting to learn programming with punch cards and finally working with social media, in 2011. Great! I recommend.
