Historia
This gripping story of one man’s involvement in RAF Bomber Command’s fledgling offensive was first published in 1943. Written only months after the events described, R. C. Rivaz provides a uniquely fresh and immediate perspective on some of the most harrowing episodes of the war.

Unique book, reads like a diary
Revisado: 09-30-23
The book will give you an idea of what bomber crews thought of the war, and the risks of it. The unavoidably high odds of being shot down color every page. Honest and detailed. The author is unassuming about his bravery. The narration is good. Another reviewer mentioned the audio quality is not great -- he's right, but it didn't distract me from the book and I'd recommend it.

Historia
Towering at six feet seven inches, Crouch is prized for his self-deprecating humour, having famously answered the question “what would you be if you weren’t a footballer?” with the one liner “a virgin”. At the same time, he has had an incredible career, from World Cups to Champions League finals. He has scored more headed goals than anyone else in Premiership history and has a better goals-to-minute on the pitch ratio for England than even Michael Owen. A humble professional with a great sense of humour, Crouch is one of the few players that is liked by fans of all clubs.

Heads above most soccer books
Revisado: 09-30-23
Hard to put down because it's so funny. It talks about what it's like to be the outsider, and how obsessed he was with playing well in his teens and didn't have time to learn certain life skills until after he'd made it big. He wrote the book with Tom Fordyce who has a great podcast series on the Billy Joel song "We didn't start the fire".

How much of our daily caloric intake comes from ingesting substances that, technically speaking, do not meet traditional definitions of “food”? Chances are, if you’re eating something that came wrapped in plastic and contains a funky ingredient you don’t have in your kitchen, it's most likely—almost definitely—ultra-processed food, or UPF.

Good research to confirm your fears

Concisely written and well researched. I like that the audio version of the book includes audio recordings of conversations with the author.

Historia
Kid Congo Powers has been described as a “legendary guitarist and paragon of cool” with “the greatest resume ever of anyone in rock music." That unique imprint on rock history stems from being a member of not one but three beloved, groundbreaking, and influential groups—Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, the Cramps, and last but not least, The Gun Club, the wildly inventive punk-blues band he co-founded. Some New Kind of Kick begins as an intimate coming-of-age tale.

Great book
Revisado: 01-10-23
This book is very honest about Powers' life and describes the atmosphere of the 70s really well. He does a great job reading it too.

Historia
Richard Holbrooke was brilliant, utterly self-absorbed, and possessed of almost inhuman energy and appetites. Admired and detested, he was the force behind the Dayton Accords that ended the Balkan wars, America's greatest diplomatic achievement in the post-Cold War era. His power lay in an utter belief in himself and his idea of a muscular, generous foreign policy. From his days as a young adviser in Vietnam to his last efforts to end the war in Afghanistan, Holbrooke embodied the postwar American impulse to take the lead on the global stage.

This is like ten books in one
Revisado: 09-06-22
A brilliant book that explains the following in the course of its biography: the Vietnam war, the Kosovo war, the Clintons, the Obama white house's choice of realistic goals over idealism, and the ambition in the foreign service and the effect it has on relationships.

Historia
In Future Sex, Witt explores Internet dating, Internet pornography, polyamory, and other avant-garde sexual subcultures as sites of possibility. She observes her encounters with these scenes with a wry sense of humor, capturing them in all their strangeness, ridiculousness, and beauty. The result is an open-minded, honest account of the contemporary pursuit of connection and pleasure and an inspiring new model of female sexuality - open, forgiving, and unafraid.
