Historia
In the opening pages of Jamie Ford's stunning debut, Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet, Henry Lee comes upon a crowd gathered outside the Panama Hotel, once the gateway to Seattle's Japantown. It has been boarded up for decades, but now the new owner has made an incredible discovery: the belongings of Japanese families, left when they were rounded up and sent to internment camps during World War II. As Henry looks on, the owner opens a Japanese parasol.

Best reading /narration ever!

Excellent story made even better by the quality of the reading. The narrator has perfect cadence and clarity - along with subtle characterizations that feel authentic and unforced. Especially enjoyed landmarks mentioned.

Helpful Perspective
Revisado: 03-05-24
Many truly helpful concepts and applicable ideas. Unfortunately the breathy, overly dramatic presentation of nearly every sentence became unbearable at times... it felt manipulative more than the sincerity he most likely wants to express. In the final wrap up the admonition to " not look back " felt like it needed a balance with an acknowledgement of perhaps the positive blessings given in our history. Also, the desire for some positive new place here, albeit not a Scottish estate, could be a healing and healthy goal while still recognizing how temporary this end of times life is. God may indeed be directing some of us to make our own place of refuge from this cultural storm for the care of our family and others. Not our Eden, but an ark, a place for them to run to where reminders of God's blessings of our past speak to his provision, dependability, love. Again, many helpful concepts overall.

Insightfully Written - Perfectly Narrated

One of the best narrators I've listened to, read with a conversational, natural cadence. Loved the author's use of location to mark milestones. As a special needs educator I was initially trained in data based / behavior modification style strategies but also had an intuitive heart for presumed competency in my students. It is so very helpful to have the viewpoint from the feelings of autistic people, especially re such challenges as stim and compulsions. Over the years it was a blessing to learn about other approaches, see their advantages and successes, and then incorporate them into a "whatever brings the best individual success" learning environment to my classrooms (both special needs and standard ed). I am thrilled to see S2C bringing non speakers' voices to the world! Thank you for sharing your very personal and inspirational journey.

Memories and admonitions
Revisado: 08-17-23
His story truly is a reflection of so many of our own lives and memories. It's also an admonition to step back and to be aware that the world doesn't need to revolve around destruction, misperceptions and grudges.

Historia
Ivermectin is a dirty word in the media. The drug has been derided and declared useless. Doctors have earnestly recorded pleas asking those afflicted with COVID-19 not to take the drug. But why? The War on Ivermectin is the personal and professional narrative of Dr. Pierre Kory, the co-founder of an expert group of physicians, and his plight to alert the world of his group's identification of ivermectin as a highly effective, life-saving, widely available generic medicine with an obvious ability to end the global pandemic.

Excellent Overview of this Tragic Time
Revisado: 07-01-23
Even with a different narrator I could still hear Dr. Kory's voice. We followed Dr.Kory and other heroic truth tellers from the beginning, even when we had to search beyond the censorship. Their honesty saved the lives of our family members and ourselves. Their studies brought forth helped us navigate propaganda vs facts. Thank you for documenting your journey through the continuing wilderness of encroaching tyranny, Dr. Pierre, you and Dr. Paul have been in our prayers.
