Wonderful start of a new series!
Revisado: 10-14-24
Danielle Garrett's new "Four Corners Coven series" draws you in to a magical world. As always, Garrett's writing is smooth, witty and reads as if you're watching a movie through her words. One of my favorite authors and Amanda Ronconi is perfect as the narrator. Keep writing Danielle!!

Spring has sprung, and I'm finally getting out of town with my monster-hunting boyfriend. However, our cozy little rental cabin in the woods turns out to have a serious problem—an angry leprechaun infestation. Before we can get back to our romantic rendezvous, we have to prove we didn't steal a magic hat. Piece of cake, right?

Highly recommend all of Garrett's books
Revisado: 02-01-24
Danielle Garrett plus Amanda Ronconi equal cozy mystery perfection. Garrett's immense number of books are incredibly well written, funny and the romances are wholesome. It amazes me how prolific she is while maintaining such a high quality of storytelling. Amanda Ronconi is one of my favorite narrators which wraps up each of Garrett's books perfectly! Highly recommended.

Danielle Garrett's cozy mysteries (and there are a lot of them!) are well written, funny and wholesome. It amazes me how prolific she is while maintaining such a high quality of storytelling. Historia
It's the Christmas season and veterinarian Kate Turner is not feeling very jolly. She's overworked, unappreciated, and dealing with two dissatisfied clients. Throw in a very complicated personal life and Kate's definitely got a case of the holiday blues. To make matters worse, Kate's ex-boyfriend, Jeremy, is mugged and robbed after they have a heated argument in the hospital parking lot. Then, two of her dissatisfied clients turn up dead (which really gets Kate's tinsel in a tangle). All of these events seem like coincidences, but they add up to something much more venomous.

Kate Turner DVM Mysteries 1-3 come before this one
Revisado: 01-08-23
Please enter "Eileen Brady in your search bar and find "Kate Turner, DVM Mysteries 1-3" that come before this book. For some reason the series needed to change names from "A Kate Turner, DVM Mystery" to "A Dr. Kate Vet Mystery".
None-the-less, this series is fantastic! I listened to this one before finding and listening to the first 3 "Kate Turner, DVM Mysteries" then listened to the second in the "A Dr. Kate Vet Mystery".
Likable characters, lots of fun animals and great narration.

One of my favorite series!
Revisado: 09-05-22
Wow, I love this series. I've listened to the first 20 books and keep coming back for more! I would love for this to become a TV Series. Bobbi Holmes has the writing style that makes it very easy to picture the characters and settings. So much so, I want to live in Frederickport! I also appreciate when an author doesn't feel the need to swear or add racy scenes . Romy Nordlinger does a great job on the character voices. 5 Stars.

With nothing left to do—and no money in her bank account—she’s forced to return to the family business, a diner in Northern Lower Michigan. Stormy never thought she would have to work with her family again, and it’s just as horrific as she expected. Things only get worse when, after a night of drinking with her cousin, a family Ouija board leads to a burst of magic and Stormy wakes floating over her bed the next morning.

Laugh out loud mystery / love story
Revisado: 04-13-22
I LOVE the dialog between main character Stormy and her Grandfather. I rarely have "laugh out loud" moments while listening to a book, but I enjoyed several with this set of three! Jill Smith, the narrator is spot on, and easy to listen to.
At times it seemed a bit YA, other times had a bit too much sexism, (...that Stormy called people out on). But it is a great "light-hearted" set of stories.
I'm happy I used a credit for this set. I'm going to purchase more in the series.

When Eleanor Harper becomes the director of a renowned artists' retreat, she knows nothing of Cliffside Manor's dark past as a tuberculosis sanatorium, a "waiting room for death". After years of covering murder and violence as a crime reporter, Eleanor hopes that being around artists and writers in this new job will be a peaceful retreat for her as much as for them.

People start dropping dead around Charlie, giant ravens perch on his building, and it seems that everywhere he goes, a dark presence whispers to him from under the streets. Strange names start appearing on his nightstand notepad, and before he knows it, those people end up dead, too. Yup, it seems that Charlie Asher has been recruited for a new job, an unpleasant but utterly necessary one: Death.

Historia
It's been over a decade since Nora left her hometown of Scupper Island, Maine, and very seldom looked back. She's carved out a successful life in Boston, where no one knows her as the awkward girl with the delinquent sister and the dad who left, but a not-as-dramatic-as-it-sounds brush with death has her taking stock of her life. Inspired to reconnect with her prickly mother and snarky teenage niece, Nora returns home for the summer, where she's forced to face the people she's spent the last ten years trying to avoid.

I want more of Nora and her world..... maybe 10 to 100 more added to make it a series.... you know, just a bit more (wink, wink!)
Thank you Kristan Higgins, thank you Xe Sands. Xoxo

Historia
After a bizarre and disturbing incident at the funeral of matriarch Marian Savage, the McCray and Savage families look forward to a restful and relaxing summer at Beldame, on Alabama's Gulf Coast, where three Victorian houses loom over the shimmering beach. Two of the houses are habitable, while the third is slowly and mysteriously being buried beneath an enormous dune of blindingly white sand. But though long uninhabited, the third house is not empty. Inside, something deadly lies in wait.

Could have been great but falls short.
Revisado: 05-21-18
Too many things not explained. Started out very well, and the writing (that's there) is incredible, but so many intricate details that could have been brought into the story weren't. Ending was one of the biggest let downs I've read/listened to in a book ever. What happened Michael McDowell? How could you not elaborate on India's "automatic drawing" more? Everyone just forgets about it? Just like the third house... for decades, nobody goes in it... nobody thinks about it? Not a chance... So disappointing.
