I can’t get past the narrator
Revisado: 04-18-25
The content of this book may have some value to it but listening to it is like fingernails on a chalkboard. If it were to be re-recorded with a narrator that can address an adult audience maybe I’d give it another try.

Historia
Evangelical Christians are perhaps the most polarizing—and least understood—people living in America today. In his seminal new book, The Kingdom, the Power, and the Glory, journalist Tim Alberta, himself a practicing Christian and the son of an evangelical pastor, paints an expansive and profoundly troubling portrait of the American evangelical movement.

Interesting, though provoking, inherently left-biased

This audio book kept me listening and thinking but the author has an axe to grind and it creates for very biased content.

An Abridged Version of "The New Testament" Course
- De Justin Bailey en 09-03-15
Slanted, Biased, Non-Christian
Revisado: 07-31-24
The title suggests a study of how the Bible was canonized. I’m more than half way through and so far all he’s done is scoffed at the inspiration of the Bible. He claims to be objective but he seems to take joy in pointing out what he perceives to be errors in the Holy Bible. He is admittedly non-Christian. I was hoping this would turn around into something of value but I believe I’ll quit wasting my time listening to this garbage.

Sorry but I’m bored
Revisado: 07-25-24
This audio book just didn’t hold my interest. Too many mundane details and no real adventure. The narration is not good either. I’ve listened to many hiking adventure books and I hate to say it but this is one of the weakest.

Historia
Like a well-crafted stage play, Just Passin' Thru delivers one suspenseful scene after another. But in this historic setting a store on the Appalachian Trail called Mountain Crossings the characters who show up are no fictional creations. Like any good drama, there are the good guys (and gals) and the weirdos, too. Some show up once (and that’s enough), and some appear again and again. But all are united by two things: the author’s story-capturing talent, and whatever it is that lures them to attempt (or conquer) a 2,200-mile path that climbs and plummets from Georgia to Maine.

Historia
John Piper’s newest book will help Christians think about thinking. Focusing on the life of the mind helps us to know God better, love him more, and care for the world. Along with an emphasis on emotions and the experience of God, we also need to practice careful thinking about God. Piper contends that “thinking is indispensable on the path to passion for God.” So how are we to maintain a healthy balance of mind and heart, thinking and feeling? Piper urges us to think for the glory of God.

Good study of the importance of thinking as an act that glorifies God. The narrator is a bit mechanical so it’s difficult to retain the material.

Historia
Awake in the Dawn is a daily offering of encouragement that will help you start your day with the Lord and reflect on one of the most beautiful prayers given to us in God’s Word—the Lord’s Prayer. Each daily writing follows one of the seven main themes of the Lord’s Prayer and is comprised of three sections: Word, a Scripture included for meditation; Thought, a reflection on the Scripture or day’s theme; and Prayer, a prayer offered to enter into conversation with the Lord. Allow yourself to dive deeper into Scripture and grow your personal connection with Jesus.
