I read this story before listening to it so I knew the plot ahead of time. It is a cute easy to listen to story. Because of reading it prior, I was not fond of the voice the narrator did for Audrey’s voice because it sounded different in my head. The narrator did a good job making the characters sound different. The story had plenty of ups and downs throughout which kept you engaged. I love alexia’s works and this is no exception. I could easily see a sequel written for this story but it ended nicely as well. Definitely recommend.

Entertaining

It’s been a while since I listened to book 2 so I was extremely confused as to why it was all about elaina (not sure how it’s spelled) at first. But it was a cleverly written story. Definitely should have relistened to book 2 first because of this. A lot didn’t make sense until closer to the middle/end of the book for that reason. But at the same time it was kind of interesting because of elaina losing her memories. I enjoyed the story very much and look forward to the next book. The characters are well thought out and you can definitely empathize with them. I’m waiting for some more unfolding of pippa/piper/mya and doc! And curious if there’s going to be any love interests for elaina in the next book!

A fun story

I very much enjoyed this story. It was entertaining and kept my interest. I was a bit put off at first by all the swearing by the main character. It is definitely not for children for that reason. After listening for a while I became a accustomed to the main character swearing a lot and it didn’t bother me as much. My only issue with the story is the end fight with the necromancer and vampires and mages… that was a bit anti-climactic for the build up in the story. It was too predictable in my opinion. I also don’t think there was enough suspense during the fight. Otherwise I loved it. The characters are easy to relate to or hate depending on the purpose. Looking forward to the next one!

Intriguing story

For the first time, I have not read the book first. Not for lack of having the book, because I do. But lack of time to read it. This story was quite fun. And of course the ending left you wanting more, like any good series should. The narrator was not my favorite because of her harsh “s” sounds but otherwise she did a fine job with her characters. Since I haven’t read the series, I am eagerly waiting for the next one to come out so I can find out what happens. Some characters are easy to love and some easy to hate. Mystery and magic and mayhem are definitely present. Tough decisions make for interesting plots too. Definitely worth the listen.

Fantastic story

Though there were parts it was difficult to differentiate the “voice” of the 2 main characters, the story was very entertaining. It has some mystery and some romance but my favorite aspect is the “steam punk” world they live in. The characters are well developed and easy to imagine. The story flows well and is easy to get lost in. Can’t wait for the next one to come out on audible! This series is so fun and I enjoyed it thoroughly! (The books are out on the kindle already)

Romantic and heart wrenching

Getting in depth with the withering palace is fantastic. I loved this novella. It fleshes out the Ever series background even more. The story itself was heartbreaking though. Definitely can get into the story and feel the emotions. If you enjoy the series, this is a great addition.

Love the backstory

I loved getting to know more about the backstory of Evie and Jade. I did think it was too short through and would have loved a longer story! So sad too. But I’m still left wondering what happened with Jack!

Fun story

I enjoyed the story a lot. I did not like the mispronunciation of words constantly throughout the story though. It got under my skin. I did love the change in voice from Finn to Zainair (however you spell it). However the Lord of the Rings Golem voice I could have done without that the narrator used for one of the mythical creatures of this story. Quite an interesting story with lots of tension and unexpected bits.

Intriguing and suspenseful

The storyline is quite suspenseful and intriguing but it is a bit predictable as well. There were some parts that did catch me off guard though. The characters are easy to imagine. You get soaked right into the story itself very easily. Well written and narrated. Quite enjoyable. I will definitely continue the series.

It has its ups and downs with intensity but it definitely take its fair share of twists and turns. And I’m still not sure who I think she should be with out of her “men” because with each book there’s more that develops with each of them! This one had me on the edge of my seat more than once.
