Historia
Every man was once a boy. And every little boy has dreams, big dreams: dreams of being the hero, of beating the bad guys, of doing daring feats and rescuing the damsel in distress. Every little girl has dreams, too: of being rescued by her prince and swept up into a great adventure, knowing that she is the beauty.

Good idea, lacks substance
Revisado: 04-28-21
I really enjoyed the premise of this book. I was hoping it would reveal the place and gaps of heathy masculinity in western culture life and specifically in a Christian context. While he does claim to address this topic, they are more like thoughts one would have in the shower after an evening of watching a 90’s male hero movie, not the well researched fully developed ideas one would have when writing a book.
It’s the first audible book I will be asking a refund for specifically because I disagree so fundamentally of some of the ideas that I am embarrassed to keep it in my collection. The moment the author claims all homosexual relationships will suffer and never have lasting fulfillment due to issues with masculinity instantly puts this book into a category where I cannot take it seriously. Insensitive and irresponsible in the least, homophobic and toxic masculinity at its worst.

I was really excited to listen to this book, the premise is still very interesting and I wanted the book to be good. I was sorely disappointed.
The authors no doubt had life changing experiences through their world travel. Their experiences should speak for themselves but instead the authors spend the majority of the book simply lecturing why they think western value and cultures are inadequate. Their arguments lack depth and logic. Their evidence is purely anecdotal.
The reading was equally unimpressive. Eventually I had to listen to it at 2x and even 3x speed because the pace of the reading and of the book dragged so much.
It's an interesting topic that I will do more research on but this particular book isn't worth the time and money.
