Totally entertaining

My wife reads, and I ‘listen’. After she read this book for the second time, she strongly suggested that I get it on Audible. Then she listened to much of it again on our speaker! I much appreciate her insistence.
Just outstanding - both the story and the writing. And the narrator. Great characters, twisting plot, and totally entertaining throughout. Can’t imagine a disappointment for the listener.

I found the story to be realistic re many of life’s experiences. It was very entertaining and welcomed by me since I have recently been listening to murder mysteries. The narration was superb with so many accent changes. I loved the ending. It brought together in a very fine way.

This book is extraordinarily lovely. The words are almost poetic and the narration very well done. It brought tears to my eyes from the beauty and I feel it would be helpful to anyone who has ever lost a loved one. Highly recommended!

Excellent mystery, story and narration. There were so many twists and turns. I loved all of the Scottish accents. The narration enhanced the book tremendously for me. Well done!

This was our first experience listening to an Orphan X book and we found it very interesting and enjoyable. The narration was excellent as well. Thank you to the author and the narrator for providing entertainment during a long car trip. Highly recommended!

Unforgettable

This book leaves a mark. It is elegant and well-written. It makes you hurt in ways you should hurt. It helps you learn what you should learn. Thank you, John Hart, for all of your books — most especially for The Unwilling. It will be in my head and in my heart for a long, long time. Five stars for the narration as well.

Enjoyable!

During this time of social isolation due to Covid, I have listened to many books. This ranks in my top two, the other being The Henna Artist. The story is complex, going deep within the origins of a San Francisco bookshop, the family that owned it and the building it housed. Highly recommended.

Disappointing

I was looking forward to listening to this mystery which had been a People Magazine recommendation, but came away disappointed. Liberal use of the f-word is not something I either respect or enjoy. It does nothing to enhance the narrative, in my opinion. In fact, quite the opposite. The story was interesting in some ways, but the author did not leave one with an understanding of Amanda’s issues regarding her father. In the future, I will be cautious of anything on People’s “Must Reads” list and any further work by this author.
