Historia
In Beatrice Prior's dystopian Chicago, society is divided into five factions, each dedicated to the cultivation of a particular virtue - Candor (the honest), Abnegation (the selfless), Dauntless (the brave), Amity (the peaceful), and Erudite (the intelligent). On an appointed day of every year, all sixteen-year-olds must select the faction to which they will devote the rest of their lives. For Beatrice, the decision is between staying with her family and being who she really is - she can't have both. So she makes a choice that surprises everyone, including herself.

Loved it!

So good. Love the slow burn of the romantic aspect. Way better than the movie.

A class act with real integrity
Revisado: 07-24-23
Though a long book, Obama’s narration & the unfolding of what led him to & his time in the White House made me appreciate the look behind the scenes of a person whose actions were thoughtful, measured & filled with integrity in service of the bigger picture & a better world for all. No one does it alone & acknowledgment of the individuals who contributed shows what a true class he is.

Very much of its time
Revisado: 03-20-22
It was certainly written as a commentary of colonialism along with references to the politics of the day. Not that what the author was saying wasn’t absolutely relevant it just didn’t make for an interesting SciFi read in 2022.

Historia
In this smart and funny book, celebrated cartoonist Zach Weinersmith and noted researcher Dr. Kelly Weinersmith give us a snapshot of what's coming next - from robot swarms to nuclear fusion powered-toasters. By weaving their own research and interviews with the scientists who are making these advances happen, the Weinersmiths investigate why these technologies are needed, how they would work, and what is standing in their way.

Fun & interesting but not compelling.
Revisado: 05-28-18
Fun & interesting but not compelling. Well researched with lots of interesting info but it didn’t make me want to know more. I increased reading speed slightly or I would have gotten a bit bored. I did actually like the authors narrating as it gave it more enthusiasm for the subjects covered.

Great info, wrong narrator
Revisado: 06-07-16
I thought the Q&A format was great, as was the advice on how to focus and improve your own response. The narrator was a terrible choice for this book though. Since the book is non-fiction and written by a business woman I would have preferred to have a woman narrator, especially since there were personal references that made no sene coming from him. His pace was also suited for storytelling rather than business advice.
Overall a great reference though.

Historical SF, loved it!
Revisado: 02-19-09
If you're not good at keeping up with movies that twist and turn, this book is not for you. A great fun read that keeps you moving through time and history and makes you constantly connect the dots, even as they circle back on themselves. Loved it!
