This is my all time favorite series. I have reread or relistened numerous times. This book was not a good effort. Too much agenda pushed. Too many people thrown in during interviews very quickly. I lost track. I could have read first 3 chapters and then picked up at 95% for the interrogation and missed nothing. Some favorite side characters get a passing nod. Even interactions with Somerset weren't up to par. I'm going to have to start getting these from library and read, before purchasing moving forward. I have the book and audio for every one in series. Including the novellas. To expensive for what was churned out in this book. It was slow and tedious with lits of rehashing thoughts. These books are normally show. Shows the investigative process, relationship building etc. This book was a bunch of tell. It just fell flat for me in a big way.
Audio 3 stars normally 5. Why does Roarke sound like a consiliatory dweeb who is sometimes from Ireland and why does Eve sound like a 40 yr smoker with a headcold. Susan has her sounding like an older woman in this book.

Great addition to the series.

Enjoyed this addition to series. I really like it when the whole crew is involved. The author provided summary covers the basics and I don't want to give spoilers. If you are a fan of the series, you don't want to miss this one.
The narrator, Susan E. is great as usual.

surprisingly great

I was surprised by this book. Only tried it because it was an Audible Original. Now I downloaded the entire series and can't wait to get to book 2.
The book was interesting, funny, and sweet with great characters. Medium burn romance with some steam toward the end. Lots of different paranormal. They called the magiques/magicks. Not sure how to spell since only listened to audio.
This can be standalone. No cliffhanger. I enjoyed the narrators.

This book was a fantastic add to the series. I enjoyed it more than the previous book, though the storyline is heart wrenching. This book has all the feels and almost all our favorite characters. Highly recommend. Not giving spoilers.

Grace Under Fire

Enjoyed the book and narrator did a great job, especially with the accents. I was a little frustrated with how little Isabelle fought back against Michael's high-handedness and how wishy washy he was about his feelings. One minute he was hitting in her the next he was ending things. Happened multiple times. No women should put up with that. She was sweet, naive, and beautiful. He is handsome, smart and arrogant. Her driving skills were a source of entertainment throughout the book. I enjoyed the Buchanan group as always. We get a little bit of an update on couples from previous books. Told from multiple POV. Mostly Isabelle and Michael. Could be stand alone. No cliffhanger.

oh wow that ending

There is a huge ending in this book. Narrator did great. Enjoyed the storyline and characters. Definitely recommend if you like the Charlie Rhodes storyline. If new, start with book 1.

slow start, rushed ending but a good book

I enjoyed the book. It's my first in the series. The narrator not only spoke slowly, but the storyline started out slowly, other than opening scene. The opening scene and following one made me follow about 200 pages to many. The book had a LOT of. long stretches of tedious info then explosive exciting scenes. Lots of surprises and curves thrown in as well. Debating on going in order or just skipping around. Definitely trying at least one more.

Missing in death

enjoyed this short in death story. The bad guys aren't all bad and the dead ones are probably better off that way. Eve makes some hard decisions. Fascinating throughout.

Wild one

Eve and Roarke on very little sleep always makes for tense interactions. This case was interesting from start to finish. I wanted to thump the bad guys. Guess that meant I was invested. Robb always pulls the reader in.

Peabody cracks me up

Peabody is always down to believe the supernatural. She is a great balance to Eve's straight pragmatism. Roarke is so very Roarke in this book. Definitely recommend.
