Cringeworthy
Revisado: 02-08-22
The first book was simple and a bit rushed in terms of character development, but it was funny and interesting—I liked the world and the characters, especially Zed. In this book Zed just came off as desperate and boring, and the narrator made him sound creepy. A few times I said “Ew” out loud at the dialogue. Was there a plot? Something about pie? Snooze.

After the Final War, after the appearance of the Bug aliens and their enforced peace, Shining Smith is still alive, still doing business from the old scrapyard bequeathed to her by her father. But Shining is now something more than human. And the scrapyard is no longer just a scrapyard, but a place full of secrets. This life she has built, while empty, is predictable and safe. Until the only friend left from her previous life shows up, dead, in the back of a scrapped Tesla warplane. Clutched in her cold fingers is a note to Shining - warning her of a coming attack.

Dreadful
Revisado: 01-21-20
So cliché. Way too much jargon that got in the way of the plot and character development. Narrator didn’t fit. Overall, this was a wasted download.

What exactly happened here?
Revisado: 08-30-17
I'm not sure anything actually happened in this book. The plot was uneven and kind of dull. Still, the created world was really interesting and the characters were well developed. It was good enough to listen to before bed, especially since the narrator was good.

Great story and narrator
Revisado: 08-20-16
The last two books in this series were good but not as great as the earlier ones. This book returned the series to greatness. I loved reading about Savannah - a character we've known since her childhood - come into adulthood. The narrator on this one was a big improvement over the last one too. On to the next one!

Historia
Robyn Peltier moved to Los Angeles after her young husband's sudden death. Though she's still grieving, the challenges of her new life as the PR consultant to Portia Kane - the world's most famous celebutante wannabe - can sometimes be amusing, even distracting. But when her client is gunned down in a nightclub, Robyn is suddenly on the run as the prime suspect in the murder. And as more bodies pile up around her, it seems like only Hope Adams, Robyn's best friend, and Hope's somewhat spooky boyfriend Karl are on Robyn's side. But it's not the police Hope is worried about, and the only way Hope can keep her friend alive is by letting her enter a world she's safer knowing nothing about.

Great story, narrator could be better
Revisado: 08-03-16
I really liked this book. I found the storyline fascinating even though it didn't follow the same format as earlier books in the series. The only thing that bothered me was the narrator. First, it was a different narrator than earlier books so the voices were different than what I was used to. Second, her male voices were a bit weird. Third, I'm from Philly and her attempt at a Philly accent was terrible-not to mention Hope is supposed to be a society girl and the voice lacked sophistication or confidence. All that being said, the narration wasn't so bad as to ruin the story. Definitely worth a listen, but I hope Book 10 is better.

Best book ever written
Revisado: 09-15-15
I'm not kidding. I love this book. Bryson is witty, objective and through in his research. I don't know why this book isn't featured on more "must read" lists. Richard Matthews is the perfect narrator for it too. His voice is even and soothing. I've been listening to this book over and over for several years. Sometime it lulls me into sleep and other times it keeps me entertained and intrigued for hours.

Historia
In Christopher Moore's ingenious debut novel, we meet one of the most memorably mismatched pairs in the annals of literature. The good-looking one is one-hundred-year-old ex-seminarian and "roads" scholar Travis O'Hearn. The green one is Catch, a demon with a nasty habit of eating most of the people he meets.

Ridiculous and fantastic!
Revisado: 12-31-11
What was one of the most memorable moments of Practical Demonkeeping?
This book's odd cast of characters are likeable and the lighthearted and absurd plot is an easy and entertaining read.
Have you listened to any of Oliver Wyman’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
Wyman is my favorite performer - there are a lot of characters in this story and his voices are unique enough that it doesn't get confusing. His demon voice is the best!
