Exceeded my expectations A+

Useful knowledge, clearly communicated in an engaging way. I thoroughly enjoyed it compared to other books I have read on similar topics that only scratch the surface.

Some great gems, but too many religious detours.
Revisado: 03-26-18
What would have made Present over Perfect better?
Some great gems, but too many religious detours. Narrator cadence was not to my liking (subjective personal opinion). The religious emphasis is not what I was expecting and though I stuck with it for a little less than 2 hours, it was just not to my taste and I walked away from it.
What was most disappointing about Shauna Niequist’s story?

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Shauna Niequist?
Some great gems, but too many religious detours. Narrator cadence was not to my liking (subjective personal opinion). The religious emphasis is not what I was expecting and though I stuck with it for a little less than 2 hours, it was just not to my taste and I walked away from it.
What character would you cut from Present over Perfect?

Any additional comments?

As a guy, I have been avoiding this movie since it came out. It just didn’t seem like something I would be likely to enjoy. Stumbled across the book on Audible and decided to give it a try largely because narrators voice and cadence in the sample was so enticing. Finished it in 2 days. Wonderful read/listen. Loved it so much that I rented the movie the following night. And sadly yes, the ‘book was far better than movie’ cliche does indeed apply. Get this book, I’m confident you’ll enjoy it, whatever your stage in life.

Not my cup of tea
Revisado: 03-21-18
What would have made 12 Rules for Life better?
I just did not like this book at all. Too much biblical references. Bible references in passing are fine, but the length and depth of the references went on for 5 to 10 minutes at times. Just too much. Stuck through a few chapters but then walked away from it.
Would you ever listen to anything by Jordan B. Peterson and Norman Doidge - foreword M.D. again?
No
How did the narrator detract from the book?
Narrator was okay
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
Apathy

Historia
For decades we've been told that positive thinking is the key to a happy, rich life. "F*ck positivity," Mark Manson says. "Let's be honest, shit is f*cked, and we have to live with it." In his wildly popular Internet blog, Manson doesn't sugarcoat or equivocate. He tells it like it is - a dose of raw, refreshing, honest truth that is sorely lacking today. The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck is his antidote to the coddling, let's-all-feel-good mind-set that has infected modern society and spoiled a generation, rewarding them with gold medals just for showing up.

Did all 8 hours in one sitting - GREAT BOOK!
Revisado: 02-11-18
Never was much of an Anthony Bourdain fan. Bought this book on whim of a suggestion from a blog listing it as a ‘must read’ biography. No regrets! Narrated by Bourdain himself. On reflection, nobody else could have narrated this fast paced, colorful, unfiltered, non-stop torrent of kitchen life. Thoroughly enjoyed this. Get it. Read it. That’s all you need to know.
