Historia
The ratings and views are off the chart. The fans just can't get enough. The dungeon gets more dangerous each day. But in a grinder designed to chew up and spit out crawlers by the millions, Carl and Princess Donut need to work harder than ever just to survive. They call it the Over City. A sprawling, once-thriving metropolis devastated by a mysterious calamity. But these streets are far from abandoned. An undead circus trawls the ruins. Murdered prostitutes rain from the sky. An ancient spell is finally ready to reveal its dark purpose.

Don’t even think you know what’s going to happen. Matt Dinniman continues to pull the story in a hundred different ways and still manages to keep it all together… just like Carl does.
Join Carl and Donut as they traverse the 3rd floor of the dungeon with their Succubus (this time) manager Mordecai and new friend Katia.

I really appreciate the way the story is told from the various points of view of each of the main characters and getting a perspective of events from differing vantage points.

Historia
A man. His ex-girlfriend's cat. A sadistic game show unlike anything in the universe: a dungeon crawl where survival depends on killing your prey in the most entertaining way possible. In a flash, every human-erected construction on Earth - from Buckingham Palace to the tiniest of sheds - collapses in a heap, sinking into the ground. The buildings and all the people inside have all been atomized and transformed into the dungeon: an 18-level labyrinth filled with traps, monsters, and loot.

A wonderful mix of fantasy and fiction
Revisado: 07-23-24
I’ve listened to the first three books so far. A glorious story that combines some of the best aspects of the following stories: Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy (world is suddenly destroyed); Ready Player One (the main characters get to play a “digital” version of themselves - video game style); Hunger Games (survivors pitted against one another and impossible odds with little chance of winning or maintaining one’s humanity); with a strong dose of Dungeons and Dragons and similar game styles and monsters.
One of my very first thoughts about the story is “What if, sometime after the middle of the series our main characters die and we get pulled into the storyline of another character?”
It would 100% reinforce the fact that no character in this story has plot armor.
Warning: Lots of language, irreverent, offensive, and indecent dialogue is splattered (pun intended) throughout.
Carl and Donut win my heart every time. Killing monsters, saving friends, and outsmarting their captors, and just plain getting l.u.c.k.y.

The apocalypse will be televised! You know what’s worse than breaking up with your girlfriend? Being stuck with her prize-winning show cat. And you know what’s worse than that? An alien invasion, the destruction of all man-made structures on Earth, and the systematic exploitation of all the survivors for a sadistic intergalactic game show. That’s what. Join Coast Guard vet Carl and his ex-girlfriend’s cat, Princess Donut, as they try to survive the end of the world—or just get to the next level—in a video game–like, trap-filled fantasy dungeon.

Fantastical Story
Revisado: 10-29-22
I used to think that there was a specific way to write stories, but as I’ve grown, I’ve realized that each author (including myself - and no, I don’t write) has their own style of writing. It’s based on their own interpretations.
I now allow authors to not explain EVERYTHING in a story. This is indicative of our own lives and perspectives. We don’t ALWAYS know why thing happened or get the whole explanation.
However, being that this was an audiobook, I found one extremely difficult issue to overlook And that is the character names. Too many of them were too similar and sounded too much alike. During the first and part of the second books, it was difficult to comprehend which characters (despite the author’s excellent character voices and accents), were in which parts of the story.
The new take on dragons being human-like, the trolls having feathers, and the physical toll on the body due to the use of magic added a unique twist to the otherwise monotonous fantastical genre. The author delved into the minds of the specters and to a much lesser degree, the demons themselves, something I haven’t experienced before. I appreciated the inter-racial relations that were depicted and the how the author touched on the complications that they create.
It was a 5 star book and story, except for the too similar sounding character names that made following the story difficult.

After forming a coalition of human resistance against the enemy invasion, Dalinar Kholin and his Knights Radiant have spent a year fighting a protracted, brutal war. Neither side has gained an advantage, and the threat of a betrayal by Dalinar’s crafty ally Taravangian looms over every strategic move. Now, as new technological discoveries by Navani Kholin’s scholars begin to change the face of the war, the enemy prepares a bold and dangerous operation. The arms race that follows will challenge the very core of the Radiant ideals.

Revisado: 02-18-21
So much build up. I finally broke down and read the wikia to better understand the underlying conflict that is occurring throughout the cosmere. It now makes sense.
And if you thought you were going to make sense of what motivations each storied party has, and who is on which side, this book flips it all upside down, twists, and reverses everything.

Historia
With courage, grace, and powerful insight, bestselling author Kristin Hannah captures the epic panorama of World War II and illuminates an intimate part of history seldom seen: the women's war. The Nightingale tells the stories of two sisters, separated by years and experience, by ideals, passion and circumstance, each embarking on her own dangerous path toward survival, love, and freedom in German-occupied, war-torn France—a heartbreakingly beautiful novel that celebrates the resilience of the human spirit and the durability of women. It is a novel for everyone, a novel for a lifetime.

This gets the full gamut of stars. 10 if I could.
Don’t pass on this story. I can’t even explain how it makes me feel, how well the reader did, or the emotions it conveys.
It is a perfect story. And highlights the strength of women in its time.
Vian and Isabelle make sacrifices of their own to bring forth miracles of life and love during WW2. May we all strive to incorporate some of their heart into our lives.

Historia
This is the way the world ends...for the last time. It starts with the great red rift across the heart of the world's sole continent, spewing ash that blots out the sun. It starts with death, with a murdered son and a missing daughter. It starts with betrayal, and long dormant wounds rising up to fester. This is the Stillness, a land long familiar with catastrophe, where the power of the Earth is wielded as a weapon. And where there is no mercy.
