Historia
Kid Congo Powers has been described as a “legendary guitarist and paragon of cool” with “the greatest resume ever of anyone in rock music." That unique imprint on rock history stems from being a member of not one but three beloved, groundbreaking, and influential groups—Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, the Cramps, and last but not least, The Gun Club, the wildly inventive punk-blues band he co-founded. Some New Kind of Kick begins as an intimate coming-of-age tale.

Fantastic!!
Revisado: 03-10-23
Such a marvel! I had been hoping for a memoir from Patricia Morrison but this is so much better! The stories, the insights, the struggles and the triumphs...just a wonderful story from one of my favorite musicians.
It is always best to hear it from the proverbial horses mouth and this book is no exception! Kid Congo is a most gracious host, entertaining and eloquent, soft spoken and charming. Thank you, Kid Congo, for allowing me into your world and showing me the people behind some of my youthful gods (present company included).

Historia
Ever since the suspense and horror writer Chet Williamson read The Great Gatsby in his youth, it has been his favorite novel. Indeed, he considers it The Great American Novel, and, in this new collection of F. Scott Fitzgerald's work, he presents the original first edition text along with six hilarious stories that show the lighter side of the writer's work, and reveal why Fitzgerald was one of the most popular authors of the Roaring Twenties, and remains so today.

Gatsby is magnificent
Revisado: 01-27-22
A perfect narration! Chet Williamson brings a new vibrancy and pathos to this beloved work. The vocal cadences are subtle enough to differentiate without distracting. As for the other tales, they are a delightful sample of the lows F. Scott Fitzgerald could plumb in the name of humour. Some funny, some groany but all rather bizarre when juxtaposed with the MASTERPIECE.

Historia
A young boy is found horribly murdered in a mock crucifixion. Is the murderer the elderly woman who witnessed the crime? A neurologist who can no longer bear the pain life inflicts on its victims? A psychiatrist with a macabre sense of humor and a guilty secret? A mysterious mental patient, locked in silent isolation? Lieutenant Kinderman follows a bewildering trail that links all these people, confronting a new enigma at every turn even as more murders surface. Why does each victim suffer the same dreadful mutilations? Why are two of the victims priests?

Historia
Alan Moore channels both the ecstatic visions of William Blake and the theoretical physics of Albert Einstein through the hardscrabble streets and alleys of his hometown of Northampton, UK. In the half a square mile of decay and demolition that was England's Saxon capital, eternity is loitering between the firetrap housing projects. Embedded in the grubby amber of the district's narrative, among its saints, kings, prostitutes, and derelicts, a different kind of human time is happening.

A stirring, awe inspiring Journey...
Revisado: 01-30-20
Alan Moore will never disappoint, that is a fact. Jerusalem is a magnificent novel filled with diverse characters and situations the like of which you've never encountered...as jarringly familiar as they seem. Leaping across time and history the stories rush the reader to an inevitable satisfying yet disappointing conclusion...disappointing merely in the realisation that the journey has ended. To say more would be rude.
The always delightful Simon Vance makes the daunting duration seem like hours rather than days...

Historia
Cured is not only the first insider account of the early days of the band, it is a revealing look at the artistic evolution of the enigmatic Robert Smith, the iconic lead singer, songwriter, and innovative guitarist at the heart of The Cure. A deeply rebellious, sensitive, tough, and often surprisingly "normal" young man, Smith was from the start destined for stardom, a fearless nonconformist and provocateur who soon found his own musical language through which to express his considerable and unique talent.

Redemption.
Revisado: 12-03-17
Lol Tolhurst tells us, in his own soothing voice, how he helped lead The Cure to become one of the most successful bands in the world but more importantly... how his excesses nearly destroyed him.
From the opening cinematic scene of the boys battling local thugs on a railroad track to the peaceful finale on a beach, this is a riveting story for old and new fans of The Cure and especially for anyone wondering just what exactly happened?
As thrilling as it was to hear the story of the band that changed my teenage world in the voice of one of the creators, it was also rather heartbreaking to hear one man's descent into excess and listen helplessly as the events pile up like cars careening into one another on the expressway realising there is absolutely nothing Lol can do to prevent the inevitable explosion.
Thank you, Lol, for having the guts to put this out there for all to see. I hope this catharsis is the redemption you seek...

Revisado: 10-18-17
Nicole Cushing is a delight, her imagination kicks open the doors that other writers, no matter how subversive, leave locked.
The reader is perfect, she matches the tone beautifully so that the unknowing listener has absolutely no idea the thrills that await in this gorgeously twisted tale.
Highly recommended for those of a stronger disposition... fans of De Sade and Lautremont take heed.

Historia
Jon Padgett's The Secret of Ventriloquism, named the Best Fiction Book of 2016 by Rue Morgue Magazine, heralds the arrival of a significant new literary talent. With themes reminiscent of Shirley Jackson, Thomas Ligotti, and Bruno Schulz, but with a strikingly unique vision, Padgett's work explores the mystery of human suffering, the agony of personal existence, and the ghastly means by which someone might achieve salvation from both.

Fantastic.
Revisado: 03-03-17
I've been excited about this book since it was announced and I'm pleased to say it was worth the wait. Jon Padgett has created a mythology, no a universe populated with characters eccentric and horrific where nothing is at all what it seems.
The author as reader is always an excellent idea as who knows their character's thoughts better than the god who created them?
Highly recommended.
