Historia
Patric Gagne realized she made others uncomfortable before she started kindergarten. Something about her caused people to react in a way she didn’t understand. She suspected it was because she didn’t feel things the way other kids did. Emotions like fear, guilt, and empathy eluded her. For the most part, she felt nothing. And she didn’t like the way that “nothing” felt.

I question the validity
Revisado: 11-10-24
I've never left a negative review until now. I immediately purchased this book after finishing her episode on Armchair Expert. I wasn't sure if I really got the sense that she is a sociopath during her appearance. Upon listening to this book, something about the whole thing just registered to me as disingenuous. I just couldn't shake it. I very well could be wrong & I normally wouldn't even mention my skepticism but she's built a career on being a sociopath so I at least figured I would share. Also, there's the possibility that i was subconsciously picking up on the sociopathy as disingenuous since it is a trait of the disease but I just file it away as garden variety narcissism🤷🏻♂️

Historia
Two men, each handsome and unusually adept at his chosen work, embodied an element of the great dynamic that characterized America’s rush toward the twentieth century. The architect was Daniel Hudson Burnham, the fair’s brilliant director of works and the builder of many of the country’s most important structures, including the Flatiron Building in New York and Union Station in Washington, D.C. The murderer was Henry H. Holmes, a young doctor who, in a malign parody of the White City, built his “World’s Fair Hotel” just west of the fairgrounds.

Quite a Ride
Revisado: 08-14-24
I love history but struggle to find nonfiction writers who keep me intrigued... That is, until now. This book is culturally rich & written in a way that feels true to the time. I really felt like i began to know these historical figures & the story of the World's Fair kinda reinvigorated a sense of civic pride in me.

5 stars
Revisado: 05-30-23
I give this 5 stars assuming it's nonfiction. if it's fiction, I imagine it would've had a bit more flare or bear action but I will say that this story was fascinating & kept me wondering what was next.

And while it is not known whether or not the desk clerk is actually the devil incarnate, it is strange that so many visitors who come for a tour of the hotel have a way of never leaving.

Idk
Revisado: 05-30-23
Idk why but I really liked this story. I stumbled across this title & I'm glad I did. I very much enjoyed it & I don't read a lot of fiction. I think it was due to the story having several secondary anecdotes.

It was fine. Not great but fine. I make short films & I actually felt inspired by the story as a filmmaker but I would completely rewrite the dialogue.

Historia
For O.J. Simpson to get away with murder, an innocent cop, a brilliant detective, had to be destroyed. That was the cynical strategy of the Simpson defense. But as certainty about Simpson's guilt grew, so did the outrage about the scapegoating of Mark Fuhrman. Now the former LAPD detective tells his side of the story in a damning expose.

Seemingly Honest Account
Revisado: 05-17-23
After reading If I Did It, I Helped OJ Get Away With Murder, & Murder In Brentwood, Murder In Brentwood feels like the most genuine seemingly honest account of events. The 3 books give you different perspectives from the prosecution & defense. The only thing that everyone seems to agree on is OJ's guilt!

The shocking tale told in How I Helped O. J. Get Away with Murder is unlike anything you've read before. It isn't Mike Gilbert's "version" of what happened'; it's the unvarnished truth - the truth about O. J., the murders, and the infamous trial, not as Gilbert imagined or would like it to be, but how it actually was.

Revisado: 05-14-23
I'm sorry to the family. The whole book is a peek into his mind. You can't be sure how much is true & how much is just him painting himself in an innocent light. Nonetheless, it is fascinating & the narrator did a fantastic job.

I just got Into the trucking industry so naturally I've been seeking content related to my new job. This book really surprised me. I went in with low expectations & came out iimpressed. The story was good & the narrator did a wonderful job of embodying the characters in the story. I listened to it on the road & I have no complaints.

Interesting Concept!
Revisado: 05-13-23
I love the idea of a contemporary Lord of the Flies, which is essentially what this book is. I've never read the original because I got the impression that it may seem dated. I enjoyed the book & would enjoy seeing a movie follow up on this tale.
The narrators also did well but many of the female characters too closely resembled each other's voices which threw me off a little but considering how many characters there are in the story, I can't hold it against her.
