RuPaul stringed together the poetry of his life in an unflinching manner. Lovely narrative that can serve as historical archive, self help book, and fantasy novel.

Historia
Ziwe made a name for herself by asking guests like Alyssa Milano, Fran Lebowitz, and Chet Hanks direct questions. In Black Friend, she turns her incisive perspective on both herself and the culture at large. Throughout the book, Ziwe combines pop-culture commentary and personal stories that grapple with her own (mis)understanding of identity. From a hilarious case of mistaken identity via a jumbotron to a terrifying fight-or-flight encounter in the woods, Ziwe raises difficult questions for comedic relief.

This reads more like a fancily organized reading list than a book. The book’s thesis was unclear and its examples unconnected. Read some Maggie Nelson or Susan Sontag instead.

Hm
Revisado: 06-05-22
Let me start by saying that this book was under a microscope for the sake of existing. That said, I wish it was better. The plot was perfectly set, which is not a bad thing, but it did need hella tension about halfway through. Overall, the premise was delivered tho.

Gay Boy Story Written by An Actual Queer Man
Revisado: 05-06-22
I know it shouldn’t be rare but wow it is. This felt like such a genuine take on relationships between young queer men. It neither makes them absolutely chaste like some other authors or completely relies on stereotypes. They were so different that so many of us could see ourselves in different characters. I like how the guys who would otherwise be considered dominant because of their size or looks (Heath and Gabe) were actually way more sensitive than the brainy and creative guys (Sal and Reese). Overall such a lovely tale that could absolutely use a follow up!

Historia
Caleb Michaels is a 16-year-old champion running back. Other than that his life is pretty normal. But when Caleb starts experiencing mood swings that are out of the ordinary for even a teenager, his life moves beyond "typical". Caleb is an Atypical, an individual with enhanced abilities. Which sounds pretty cool except Caleb's ability is extreme empathy - he feels the emotions of everyone around him. Being an empath in high school would be hard enough, but Caleb's life becomes even more complicated when he keeps getting pulled into the emotional orbit of one of his classmates, Adam.

Revisado: 04-03-22
This story takes forever to start. It had so much potential. Only after I finished it did I find out that this novel is the off shoot of a podcast. Maybe this was supposed to spur interest in the pod? If so, a complete story would’ve been great.

The story needed focus

The book was more of a character study than a narrative. So if you’re looking for a romance, look elsewhere. Still, a decent story though.

No. They don’t do it lol. It’s just a romp. So if you’re just looking for more innocent fun, go ahead. If you were looking for a progression of their love story, look up some fan fiction instead; there’ll be more relationship growth there.
