A well-voiced story to a somewhat flat story

The storytelling of the first person in this Book 1 kept me listening, as did the narrator of the book. The story itself was capturing at times, but mostly a long lead-up to wanting to find out what happens next - to know how the main character came to prominence -- and fell from it. Would recommend as a passive listen.
