Historia
I came to Roseborne College looking for answers. This place swallowed my brother whole. What I discover are sadistic teachers who torture more than teach, unearthly sounds that echo through the night, and a wall of roses that holds the students captive. To unravel the mystery of this place, I need the help of three very different, unnervingly appealing guys. Guys who might be just as messed up as I am.

Revisado: 06-20-24
Narration was good,l considering the number of characters being covered. While the story itself was ok, I felt that it was drawn out too long. Probably could have been a two book series. I only say this because several times I found my mind drifting off and not paying attention to the book. Overall I would say it’s worth the credit/money. I would probably listen to it again one day when I need a filler book.

Historia
Twenty-year-old Violet Sorrengail was supposed to enter the Scribe Quadrant, living a quiet life among books and history. Now, the commanding general—also known as her tough-as-talons mother—has ordered Violet to join the hundreds of candidates striving to become the elite of Navarre: dragon riders. But when you’re smaller than everyone else and your body is brittle, death is only a heartbeat away...because dragons don’t bond to “fragile” humans. They incinerate them.

Excellent!!
Revisado: 06-21-23
I loved everything about this story. Well written. Funny in parts. Had me crying in parts. The narrator was excellent and gave the right amount of appropriate snark. My only wish is that Teddy had more telling, or maybe dual narration would have been great. Either way, I highly recommend. Can’t wait for the next book.

Another great listen…
Revisado: 03-01-23
Great listen - I only gave it 4 stars for the story only because it was a little drawn out at times for reasons not needed. That tends to lead to distractions interfering. Otherwise it was great. Narration was great as always with Seb and Lila. I’m off to listen to the next one now.

The only thing about me that’s a size zero is the filter on my mouth. I’ve got a big personality, a big rack, and a big number on the scale. And I’m perfectly fine with that. But when some random guy suggests I might not be eating alone if I’d ordered a salad instead of a hamburger I’m shocked silent, which is a feat, trust me. That brings us to one sexy fireman named Frankie Hartigan. He’s hot. He’s funny. And he’s just apologized for being late for our “date” then glared at the fat-shaming jerk.

Gah! Just stop already…
Revisado: 01-17-23
I’m sure this story would have been so much better if not for the CONSTANT self-deprecating comments from the lead female. I mean go you with your plus size beauty and attitude - heck yeah! But every other sentence - another self dig about her weight. I get it was going for the insecurities tear their ugly heads take, but come on man! The exasperation of the lead male character was something he and I shared. Overall, story no, narrators were fine. I would not listen to this again, and it will most likely be deleted from my library. Sorry, but no - too too far.

Just didn't do it for me
Revisado: 09-28-22
I will start by saying I am a Susan Stoker fan, have listened to almost all of her books, and I've never been disappointed. However, there is a first time for everything I guess. I don't know if it was the narration or the storyline itself, but it was so boring that I found myself drifting off and would have to go back and listen to a chapter over again. I am disappointed because I was looking forward to this book - but I just can't say that it was awesome or anything. Savannah normally does a great job at narration, as does Aiden, but they both fell short in this book. The storyline itself was dragged out in parts that it didn't need to be, which is when the drifting off started. If it can't capture and maintain my attention, then I'm not going to try and go to a second book. Maybe I'll read these instead of listening to them. I don't know. I won't suggest not wasting a credit or money, because that just seems harsh - I'm just putting my opinion out there.

Really enjoyable
Revisado: 10-24-21
I was so happy to find a new lakeside series book! Getting Played and Getting Schooled are two of my go to books to listen to when nothing sparks my interest, and now Getting Real will definitely be added. I enjoy the characters, the way everyone is intertwined in the stories. There is humor, eye rolls, and even some tears. The narration on all three books is hands down the best because, well - seriously it’s Andi and Zachary, no more words needed there. This book is definitely worth the listen. The entire series so far is, and I can only hope there will be more stories to come from it.

Historia
I’m the type of girl who’s given up on fairy tales. So when Beck – the hot new busboy at work - starts flirting with me, I know better than to get my hopes up. Happily ever afters aren’t for the average. I learned that the hard way. But how can I be expected to resist a man who can quote Austen, loves making me laugh, and seems to be everything hot and good in this world? Only there’s so much more to him than that. Billionaire playboy? Check. Troubled soul? Check.

Kinda slow
Revisado: 07-14-20
Honestly I will start by saying that Andi probably saved this for me, because her voice, as well as her male voice, made it bearable in alot of parts. The story itself wasn't bad, just slow and drug out, and I didn't like the way all of the angst and chaos wasn't dealt with in a more suitable manner to the book. I like Kylie's styling of writing, however, this one made the female character Alice seem meeker than necessary, and that didn't set well with me (you'll know what I mean if you listen to the book). Beck was just really an overgrown boy trying to find his way in a sea of sharks, and he got there in the end, but even his story wasn't played out very well. The back up characters were ok, albeit somewhat annoying at times and made me wonder why they were even written in. All in all I don't feel as though it was a wasted credit, however, it won't be one in my library that I'll listen to again unless I just get overly bored and need to listen to Andi tell a story. Hope that helps!

Better than I thought...
Revisado: 02-20-20
This was an interestingly woven story with multiple characters and back stories. It was a little slow in spots, but always picked back up with another shot from left field. Narration was great, Andi was spot on as always. The story focused around Maddie, but then again, focused around Jacob, and at the same time focused around Kateri, the Sheriff. A little confusing at times, but overall it was a decent story that had all of the parts tied up in the end, and preparation for the next book as well.

Very slow story line....
Revisado: 01-29-20
Ok, I am half way through this book and right now I could care less if I finish it or not. Here's the problem: first of all, whatever the "storyline" here is that the author is heading towards still has not been brought to even a hint half way through the book. There is no direction - at all. I find myself just wanting to fast forward chapters so I can see if anything changes, and that to me isn't a good thing. Secondly - the narration. Jacob Morgan, who is a personal favorite, does great as usual, but Savannah just didn't hit the mark on this book. I do like her, don't get me wrong, but for some reason her narration in this book was nerve grating. She narrates fine until the dialog changes to character, then it's just all wrong. Drawn out syllabels which I do not like, wispy breaths, and her "male" narration makes each and every male character sound like a grunting 80 year old. So, between being bored and being annoyed with the narration, I'm going to have to say that while it isn't overall terrible, it isn't edge of your seat, keep you guessing, figure out the story either. I don't know - maybe I'll try listening again at a later date. I just can't give it anymore time right now.
