Lyndsay Faye impressed me with her first novel, Dust and Shadow, and cemented her place as one of my favorite authors with her Gods of Gotham trilogy. Her later book, a quirky, dark funny shout out to Jane Eyre, and her additional Sherlock stories delighted me as well.
The Paragon Hotel has kept with the trend. Wonderfully complicated characters, and a perfect blend of humor, tragedy, suspense, and on-point (read:infuriating) social commentary all blend to make a read I couldn’t put down. I highly recommend diving into her books, and I eagerly await what she comes up with next.

Narrator was awful

Quit within the first chapter. The narrator was terrible. Gave story 3 starts because I had to rate it, and I didn’t want to either give a misleading high rating for a book I couldn’t listen to, or short the author for her narrator’s performance. I’ll try the kindle edition instead.
