Ok, let me first just say...before reading this book, I really loved this lady...don't get me wrong, I still think she is a courageous and lovely woman...and ole so funny (the book does not really reflect this though), I just have a hard time watching her now with the same idea/feelings, I once had. I think that she did an great job at telling a story...but this just seems that...a story. I am not by any means saying that she did not live through some tough times. I know several addicts and well, there stories are....so much. Maybe this is just what it was and if so, I am glad hers wasn't, or if it was, I wish she would have shared a bit more. In the story, the worst thing that happened to her was she was caught stealing and was arrested and that she felt the need to kill herself. I also found it odd that throughout the whole book she focused on how she was so...wanted sexually by various people... her boyfriend (of course), her drug dealer, the prison roommate, her past friend... I don't know, it just kind of threw me off as not totally realistic. Not saying it wasn't true, just wishing she that she focused on other things that would have been more helpful for people...to maybe understand a bit better. I I still...think she can do amazing things with her story, if she can bring out more of the things she went through....possibly another book.. I was just left with the thought... that's it? Where was the real struggles....where was the real desperation...
