Historia
Humanity is on the brink of annihilation. Only one man can turn the tide. For centuries, we explored the stars and settled new worlds. But a mysterious alien threat emerged, launching devastating attacks and seizing entire star systems. Every fifty years they come, silent and relentless, before disappearing again into the dark. And as they close in on humanity’s home worlds, one more defeat could mean total extinction.

From the soul
Revisado: 10-17-24
Marc said in one of his social media posts that this book has been a long time coming. Once you start reading it you can tell feel Marc poured his soul into the book.
Garrett’s story is not uncommon in the military. Sometimes as young service members, we make mistakes. As we all know it’s not the mistake you make but how you recover from it. I’m a prime example of that. Uncle Sam & I didn’t get along the first go ‘round. And I was kicked out of the military. Thirteen years later after 9/11, I was able to rehabilitate my career much like Garrett.
Lots of reviewers say the story spends a lot of time in Garrett’s head or is overly descriptive. Having been in Garrett’s shoes, I can tell you that you spend a lot of time in your own head making sure everything is done right and second guessing yourself after you make a career altering mistake!
Kudos Marc! This is an amazing story, and I can’t wait to read more of Jim Garrett and the crew of the CNS Surprise!

Revisado: 06-25-24
Once again, Anspach & Cheney knock it out of the park, again! Mark Boyette performs as he always does - superbly. Void Drifting as an a better alternative to FTL threw me for a minute, but I got used to it. I can’t wait for book 2!

FABO!
Revisado: 10-06-23
Overall, this was a fantastic story! I love the direction that Thor is headed.
CGR does a superb job, as always. I thought he was a great choice for the main series, and he does a great job here as well.
The Story Arc is great! I can’t wait to see what’s in store for Thor as the series continues!

Fantastic

Walt’s foray into the Galaxy’s Edge Universe is spot on. A wild ride with Legionnaires on a rescue mission & a foray into some of the specialty SOF units in the Legion are exactly what I’ve been waiting for.

The Big Reset
Revisado: 03-09-22
Overall this book is as well written as any in the GE Franchise. Performance is by RC Bray, so... 'nough said.
First of all I need to let the God Emperors know that this is a homerun! Now, for the uninitiated:
The reader will need to have read the main story line, both seasons for the reader to understand the subtext. This is the behind the scenes peek as we bring this season to a close. Everyone wants more Keel, more Prisma, more of the ancients, more kill teams, etc. This book is like the butter on your hot, Thomas's English Muffin- it fills in all the nooks and crannies.
If you aren't military and haven't been a part of wide scoped military operations, this has that. It does have kill teams doing their thing. We get back to the Legion and the way Tyrus meant for them to be used. Some big plot holes are filled, some story arcs closed and others just begun. Lot's of KTF in this book.
This book will not leave you lacking for anything but MOAR.

Historia
Recon Marine Conor McCall didn’t expect action during his training op in the icy waters off Norway. But when a bizarre summer fog engulfs his boat, he and his team find themselves in a fight against strange, cruel monsters from the depths of the North Sea. When even their allies are enemies, the Recon Marines must do what they have always done: adapt or die. But with a world of ice and monsters seeking to destroy them, every second is mission-critical.

Alone and Unafraid
Revisado: 01-25-22
This is the first book I've read by this author. I don't write reviews often. I don't think I'm good at it and I'm not a wordsmith.
Ice and Monsters is the latest offering I've read in the Fantasy/Mil Sci-Fi mashup genre. In a phrase, it is a headlong flight into speed, surprise and violence of action. Repleat with running firefights, base defense strategies and "L" shaped ambushes; the hard nosed NCOs of the Recon Platoon fight their way into the unknown.
Character development continues on as we get to know Conor McCall and his team. The dynamic between Gunnery Sergeant Taylor and Captain Sorensen intrigues me. If you have ever served, you've served with both of them at some point. Sometimes its salvageable, sometimes it isn't.
Military tactics are sound and Peter's experience is evident. We like to yell at the TV when they get easy stuff wrong. No yelling here. I can't wait for the series to continue.
See, not a wordsmith.
