Black boys/men are magic!
Revisado: 02-21-25
Reading a book with a black author, black male character and other different shades of black/ brown characters is an amazing feeling. It’s like being at the bbq with family, you don’t have to explain yourself or feel like you have to act like someone you’re not. Knowing the music, the lingo, having to code switch when necessary. I will always support black businesses and especially a black author. I was very excited to see this book floating around on IG and then I went hunting at Barnes & Noble for it. It has been on my tbr for a bit but I finally finished a series I was reading and wanted to read this now before the second book drop in March.
I think my only disappointments are, being Haitian myself, one— the pronunciation or the our language and two, the insinuation dark magic/ voodoo was the cause of us winning our freedom. I know Haiti has its dark sides but when it was first mentioned I was actually really excited and that soon turned to a bit of disappointment. I want Haiti and my people to be realized as so much more than that. Its beauty, our true contributions to history. I really do hope in the second book these things are highlighted in addition to proper pronunciation of sentences. Please practice this, Haitian Creole is meant to be spoken with fluidity and i’m sure the performer did his best but with a bit of practice it could up the ante.
I will absolutely purchase book 2. I want to know where this world of magic takes Malik. He deserves so much more than he’s gotten in life and I’m sure the connections he’s formed now will only make him a better and stronger man. I’m also excited to learn more about his friends and more of their backgrounds. It was really refreshing to see young black men comfortable and supported in their sexuality. The lack of homophobia and ignorance is what any person deserves but especially black men. Always being told not to cry or this and that. Just letting them be them to their core.
Overall, well done!

Historia
Twenty-four-year-old Saeris Fane is good at keeping secrets. No one knows about the strange powers she possesses or the fact that she has been picking pockets and stealing from the Undying Queen's reservoirs for as long as she can remember. But a secret is like a knot. Sooner or later, it is bound to come undone. When Saeris comes face-to-face with Death himself, she inadvertently reopens a gateway between realms and is transported to a land of ice and snow. The Fae have always been the stuff of myth, of legend, of nightmares… but it turns out they're real.

I should’ve read it sooner!
Revisado: 01-16-25
I love a book where the main female character isn’t just some simpering girl! Saeris was about the action lol! Especially over her idiot brother. The story is absolutely well written and it’s been on my TBR for so long, I should’ve read it sooner. The performance was 10/10, especially Kingfisher, YUMM!!! And Carrion LOL! He’s absolutely annoying but I can’t wait to hear more about his story. I hope the second book will have more chapters of the males POV.

Historia
From the moment his eyes met hers, there was something. Time stood still, the world around them vanished, and electricity... instant electricity. Immediately, she owned him in an inexplicable way he couldn’t quite understand. He couldn't escape her. Not in his dreams. And soon, not even in his reality. He was the man that made her soar. There was nothing in the world she wanted more than him. Absolutely nothing. His touch made her levitate. When she was with him, she was limitless. He felt like home.

Jahad’s Accent
Revisado: 12-17-24
I love the story. It’s messy and honest and you definitely get the feels. It shows the real and the raw of loss and how much it can affect so many relationships, it was well written but as a Haitian myself, Jahad’s accent was absolutely offensive. It sounded like a mix of Jamaican or Nigerian at times. I couldn’t even understand some of the sentences that were being said. When it comes to speaking a different language I feel like an actual Haitian performer would’ve made such a difference. The fluidity of how our words are spoken would have hit a listener’s ear so differently. I do like the story as previously stated, I just wish Jahad’s native language would have been treated with more care.

Revisado: 12-10-24
My heart is absolutely broken!!!!
I don’t know at what point I started to cry but I just couldn’t stop. I just finished the book and I am currently at work, crying in the bathroom. What a well written story. It’s filled with laughs, love, sorrow and heartbreak. Jude!!! Ugh, I just don’t have enough words for how much I want to hold him and tell him how unfair life was to him. Willem, JB & Malcolm, for staying as his closest friends throughout decades and them always finding their way back to each other. Just wow. If you want a good read or just need a good cry, purchase this book!

(Don’t read if you haven’t read this series, RBOTHZ or ZA)
I absolutely love Rosalie. This series has been a long time coming considering meeting her as a preteen in the Ruthless Boys series. Roary also, how young and confident and sexy he was, to being caught and ending up in Darkmore when he could’ve left Rosalie. This series was straight to the point and my girl wanted to be in and out of there. The only complaints I have are so missed opportunities I feel the authors could’ve maximized on. For example, Ethan not having a one on one with Carson (Ryder), even a simple scene of C/R saying to Ethan “told you” in terms of the conversation they had about finding true love. Second, Elise— I’ve said this in ZA reviews too that she is never mentioned by name and it’s a bit disappointing. Third, as soon as they said Sin had two forms of magic and they wonder who his parents are I JUST KNEEWWWW he was T. Rigel’s son and Max’s brother. I wish they would’ve tapped into that a bit more, he lost so much for so long and they had an opportunity to expand on that. In addition to number 3, when Sin and Max got taken, when Ethan came back to find the others it could’ve been the perfect opportunity for Caleb (Hornrider) and the “long haired wolf howling man (Seth) to overhear and go with them to save the brothers. Man I would’ve been screaming my lungs out of that happened. Last, an Orion and Cain reunion, even if it was brief. But overall, beautiful story. Another one my favs by the twisted sisters and i’m so sad to see it end.

Historia
A morte e ritorno. My family’s motto circles in my mind as I look this problem dead on and try to figure it out. I’ve faced worse than this. Survived worse odds than this. I won’t let this failure break me. We have 72 hours to turn this around. Seventy-two hours to make a new plan out of the dregs of the old. Seventy-two hours until all hope is lost. This task is impossible, but I still like my chances. I have an ace in my pocket, and his name is Mason Cain. He might not want to help me, but I don’t plan on giving him a choice in the matter.

pure heartbreak
Revisado: 10-18-24
Leave it to the twisted sisters to really hurt me so much. I laughed, i screamed and i am definitely crying with that ending. I decided to wait for the last book to come out before continuing with books 2 and 3 and I am SO glad I did! Having to wait almost two years for the last book would’ve absolutely ruined me.

Mercy stood on business!
Revisado: 09-24-24
I LOVE that Mercy wasn’t just some simpering girl! She set her mind on getting revenge and letting her father turn in his grave all the same lol. If anyone has read Ruthless Boys Of The Zodiac, Mercy definitely reminds me of Elise. The reverse heram was sexy! I love me some Wylder, Kaige, Gideon and Rowan they are now added to my book boyfriend list! I would definitely recommend to friends.

Growth. Passion. TRUE love
Revisado: 07-03-24
This book definitely took me through a roller coaster of emotions! Going through depression myself, albeit different reasons, I completely understand Yasmen when she said kept going for them. It’s hard to pull yourself up when being in the think of it, especially when everyone expects you to be strong and resilient all the time. I’m so glad both her and Josiah were able to get the help they needed separately and eventually came back together even stronger!

Historia
It has been 20 years since the end of the war. The dictatorial Augurs, once thought of almost as gods, were overthrown and wiped out during the conflict, their much-feared powers mysteriously failing them. Those who had ruled under them, men and women with a lesser ability known as the Gift, avoided the Augurs' fate only by submitting themselves to the rebellion's Four Tenets.

Revisado: 02-22-23
I’m not sure why the other complaints were what they were but I loved every minute of the trilogy. There are a lot of characters to remember and some moments a bit confusing but once you catch on it’s a great listen. I also have the books and read them multiple times. The story is perfectly depicted and if you pay attention you figure out who’s the hero, who’s the villain and etc.

Historia
After Katmere, I shouldn't be surprised by anything. Including the existence of a world beyond my world called the Shadow Realm. Yet here I am, stuck in a strange, dangerous place with the worst of the supernaturals, the monster that other monsters fear: Hudson Vega. He might be Jaxon's brother and ridiculously hot, but he's a complete bona fide pain in my ass. The question is whether we'll find a way out before I kill him...or run out of time.
