Intriguing story, interesting from the beginning to the end.

I particularly liked the dialogue with the banter between the 3 main characters. I particularly dislike this arbitrary 15 word requirement when superfluous words are not needed.

How well do we know anyone?
Revisado: 12-05-23
Story to me was one of loss and redemption, unfulfilled dreams, secrets we all may carry. Also the small towns where everyone knows everybody, or so they think.

Historia
A tough special agent with the Department of Justice and a dedicated single mother to her orphaned nephews, Samantha Chase is unbreakable. Until two women, both from the shadows of Sam's past, are discovered strangled. For Sam, the most unnerving detail is the eucalyptus branch tucked behind the victims' ears - the signature of a notorious serial murderer already convicted and executed for his crimes.

Good story
Revisado: 11-22-23
This is a very good story, and the characters are quite believable. Jealousy, deceit, abuse, and internal torment are all woven into a suspenseful and believable story without dwelling so much on the negatives that it is difficult to read.

Historia
Marlena Altizer Durst lives in her husband's shadow. He controls her every move - what she wears, the food she eats, and the friends she's allowed to make. If she disobeys, there are...consequences. And he has all the power. To outsiders, it seems that she leads a fairy-tale life. But nobody ever wonders if Cinderella was happy after she married the prince. Marlena has traded freedom and safety for luxurious imprisonment, and most days, that seems like a bad bargain. Death may be the only exit she's allowed. Just like his first wife. And his second. Unless she flips the script.

Depravity of characters
Revisado: 11-21-23
Story drug on at times. It was suspenseful but I kept hoping someone would have the courage to do right thing and no one did. Pretty much all the characters were the same, just not to the extent of Michael.

Jo told him the phone call had been about a woman who wanted to have her husband declared dead. Smith thought for a moment and then said, 'Hmm. There must be a few million women in this country who feel like that. I take it her husband's been missing for a while and she's decided it's time to move on. In the absence of a body, which is always a nuisance, she wants Diver and Diver to confirm there's no proof he's alive. And I've told Jason a dozen times I'm not getting involved in anything matrimonial. I have enough trouble sorting out my own relationships.'

A perfect blend of medical drama and spiritual insight, Gray Matter is a fascinating account of Dr. David Levy's decision to begin asking his patients if he could pray for them before surgery. Some are thrilled. Some are skeptical. Some are hostile, and some are quite literally transformed by the request.

Gray matter is an astonishing book. I enjoyed seeing the affect of situations from the other side. So many surgeons think they are God and only show that persona. This book was uplifting and refreshing.
