Messy
Revisado: 08-26-24
Continuation of an interesting storyline. You definitely need to have read book 1 to fully appreciate this one. I still don’t like the narrator - he makes it difficult to differentiate between the male characters - but overall this book was an improvement on book 1

Historia
There’s no avoiding anyone in Powder River’s small community—not even a bitter rival. For years, Cooper McKenna has been thrown together with Tilly Stafford, competing against her at summer rodeos. With all the bad blood between their families, he never imagined they’d be forced to work together. Then Tilly’s younger sister is shot, and Cooper comes under suspicion. Determined to get answers, they reluctantly team up, animosity turning to something far more heated—and no less dangerous. Because someone is watching, with a lot to hide and every reason to kill again…

Difficult to differentiate between male characters. Really zapped my enjoyment….interesting story concept but so-so execution.

Historia
Queenie Jenkins is a 25-year-old Jamaican British woman living in London, straddling two cultures and slotting neatly into neither. She works at a national newspaper, where she’s constantly forced to compare herself to her white middle-class peers. After a messy breakup from her White long-term boyfriend, Queenie seeks comfort in all the wrong places...including several hazardous men who do a good job of occupying brain space and a bad job of affirming self-worth.

Amazing!
Revisado: 05-18-20
This is a must-read and must-listen. Even though I cringed at a lot of Queenie’s poor decisions, there was still something about her that was so relatable. The characters are written with such wit and humor, something which is only wnhanced by the narrator. I am amazed that this woman was able to slip in and out of so many different accents!
Bravo! I hope the author will write more about Queenie’s journey and bring her family and Corgis along as well.
