Not enough lobsters

4 out of 5 stars

was expecting a book about the mating habits and social hierarchies of lobsters. while the book had a brief overview of the subject it was not as detailed or in depth as I would have liked

A forced mashup concept that felt forced the whole time. Cringe-worthy dialog and a fair bit of sexism. for superhero novels, I enjoyed Steelheart by Brandon Sanderson a lot more, despite it. bring a YA novel

I think Robert Jordan would be very pleased by Sanderson's work in both this book and the Gathering Storm. That's really all the praise that is needed!

BUT...could someone PLEASE tell Kate Reading that there are only three 'a''s in "Mesaana", not 50? I cringed every time she said the name...."Mesaaaaaaaanaaaaa" I don't remember her doing this in past books.

Best Book I've Listened To All Year

Wow. This could be complete fiction and be just as fascinating. The fact that it happened is just icing on the cake. Weatherford paints a great picture of Mongol society that doesn't have any of the staleness of most history books. Loved the reader.

Wasn't what I expected

I was looking for a biography of Bin Laden. This is not one. It's more of a history of militant Islamism over the last 20 years or so. Bin Laden is hardly even a central figure, and it doesn't go at all into his personality, family life, or anything you'd expect from a biography. Very detailed, and informative, but the title is misleading.

Also I didn't like the reader very much. I don't know if she just read too fast or what, but I had trouble keeping up.

I decided to listen to this book because I've heard so much about it, and wanted to better understand more conservative idealologies. I found I agree with much of what she says, but she takes it way to far.
It is much too long. I'm okay with long books generally, but no new content or thoughts are introduced. It's the same sermon over and over. Also, I HATE Hank Rearden. What a dull, uninteresting character. Dangy isn't much better. I haven't finished yet, but I hope they die horrible deaths.

And trains don't bring lasting fulfillment. They just don't, okay?
