Historia
“The problem of the twentieth century is the problem of the color line,” writes Du Bois, in one of the most prophetic works in all of American literature. First published in 1903, this collection of 15 essays dared to describe the racism that prevailed at that time in America—and to demand an end to it. Du Bois’ writing draws on his early experiences, from teaching in the hills of Tennessee, to the death of his infant son, to his historic break with the conciliatory position of Booker T. Washington.

A must read
Revisado: 05-09-24
It is good to know about your kind, where you come from and to know really what makes you, you so as to be able to fully embrace yourself. I must say, I am not a descendant of a slave nor of african-american descent. I am a black African from west Africa. But I would like to acknowledge the fact that slavery didn’t only taint the lives of slaver and their descendants, it tainted the lives of all black people. All black peoples suffer from the reverberations of slavery up to this day. I now understand why some realities and concepts even back in Africa made no sense to me yet were conflicting in their very nature. Religion, self evaluation, self determination, self confidence, culture, the local etc always evaluated in comparison with the European civilization as if that was always the bar of excellence. Well this book has educated me to the point where I am surprised. I leave this listening enlightened, self confident of my heritage and with the obligation of educating and helping others to reach that same realization. Thank you DeBois.

I like everything captivating and so real. I particularly like the first recount of her medical encounter. It was as if I was the one going through the experience. Your struggles are my struggles for the most part. Thanks for showing me the way to finding myself. What a great book!

Historia
We Are the Change We Seek is a collection of Barack Obama's 26 greatest addresses: beginning with his 2002 speech opposing the Iraq War and closing with his final speech before the United Nations in September 2016. As president, Obama's words had the power to move the country, and often the world, as few presidents before him.

Great book
Revisado: 12-31-18
I loved the book and the insight it gave me into Obama’s reign. His message on integration, togetherness, climate change, respect for religious, cultural, ethnic, and racial minorities and identities, the fact that diversity is strength. What i missed was the fact that the speeches of course were not in Obama’s voice. I understand i could not be so, but it just missed it. There is a thing when you listen to him pronounce them personally. Otherwise i greatly enjoyed the book. Thanks.

I feel like crying out because of joy
Revisado: 08-25-18
It made me rethink my life why I want to do this and that. Why ? I realized I do not know why i do many things. It has led me to start finding purpose for my life. The fact that gut feeling is the comes from our limbic brain that expresses emotion but that can not be adequately expressed in words is such a powerful realistic discovery for me. I love you Simon. Thank you for such profound knowledge.

Most instrumental self-awareness book ever written
Revisado: 08-16-18
Habit is everything. Nothing we do, or what we become springs out of nowhere. The habits we cultivate determine the people we become. Cultivating good habits saw seeds for good results. This book teaches how habits are formed and how one can change undesirable habits into desirable ones. I particularly love the idea of the habit loop. Change your life by finding out what your habits, at this moment, make you bring to the table of your life.

Simple is not Cheap. A must read:
Revisado: 08-16-18
Through this book, I came to see how I pursue the least meaningful things in life. I am in the process of purging and redefining what is really essential in my existence. It is a reference book I go to each time I realize I need downsizing in every way possible. Most times meaningfulness and significance are archived when we drop out all the unnecessary clutter we surround ourselves with- be it physically or mentally.

It literally changed my life. A must listen.
Revisado: 08-16-18
The biggest reference book in my audible library. I have listened to it more than 3 times and individual sections more than I can remember. She says things like:
Drink Water
Sleep well
Stay off carbs
log what you eat
Measure your weight...
Easy said than done in our daily chaotic life. I needed this book to tell me how to actually do these, I needed it to make me see why I should do these. I now do them not for anyone but because I owe it to myself to give myself the life I deserve. It saved my life and my sanity. I lost 12kg in 3 months and I am maintaining it with no stress and no hunger.
It is definitely a life changer.
It is a lifestyle -it is my lifestyle.

Realistic
Revisado: 08-16-18
Absolutely loved the fresh and coarseness of this book. Motivating without spoiling. I would say the only thing I did not like was that a greater part of the book was making talking about other people who used the crush its method. I would have loved more in-depth in the use of the various social media formats.
