Historia
With unflinching honesty, A Life of Opposing Forces highlights the complicated but enduring relationship Michael Millin has with his parents as he navigates the interplay of light and dark in his own life. Michael shares his path from addiction to sobriety, challenging his own assumptions of recovery and confronting generational trauma. In the process, Michael exposes the reader to the incredible world of surfing and traveling. Throughout his journey, surfing has always provided a safe space for Michael. The ocean was more than an escape; it was medicine—and the key to his survival.

I was invested in the story the entire time
Revisado: 03-13-25
A few days ago, my sponsor recommended this book to me, so I decided to get the audiobook and listen to it whenever I had free time. From the very beginning, I was completely invested in the story and found myself disappointed when it ended, I wished we were further into the future so I could hear more about his life.
I connected with the story on a deep level and even found myself getting emotional at certain moments. It made me reflect on how my own past may still be influencing me, even though I believed I had worked through it. At the same time, the book also gave me a strong sense of hope.
To me, the ending felt open-ended, as if there’s still more to the story to be told. I truly hope that one day I’ll get the chance to find out what happens next.

Historia
After Lucy is found wandering the streets, covered in her best friend Savvy’s blood, everyone thinks she is a murderer. Lucy and Savvy were the golden girls of their small Texas town: pretty, smart, and enviable. Lucy married a dream guy with a big ring and an even bigger new home. Savvy was the social butterfly loved by all, and if you believe the rumors, especially popular with the men in town. It’s been years since that horrible night, a night Lucy can’t remember anything about, and she has since moved to LA and started a new life.

Took a minute to get into but then I couldn’t stop listening. The main character was hard to like at first but that changes as the story is revealed.

A good listen as always.

At the very beginning I wasn’t really feeling it. It took a little to get into the action but once it did the story and performance of the narrator was great. All of the books in this series are awesome.

Not super engaging.
Revisado: 11-14-23
I love Mark Greaneys books but this one left a lot to be desired. It has too many main characters that don’t directly interact with each other. This left me to not really care much about any of them since it just keeps bounces back and forth from one characters current situation in the war to another’s. I found myself struggling to get through it just to be done.
