Historia
At one time, Corrie ten Boom would have laughed at the idea that she had a story to tell. For the first 50 years of her life, nothing out of the ordinary ever happened to her. She was a spinster watchmaker living contentedly with her sister and their elderly father in the tiny house over their shop in Haarlem. Their uneventful days, as regulated as their own watches, revolved around their abiding love for one another. But with the Nazi invasion and occupation of Holland, everything changed....

In 1993, Marie Gesto disappeared after walking out of a supermarket. Harry Bosch worked the case but couldn't crack it, and the 22-year-old was never found. Now, more than a decade later, with the Gesto file still on his desk, Bosch gets a call from the district attorney. A man accused of two heinous murders is willing to come clean about several others, including the killing of Marie Gesto.

Loved the story
Revisado: 01-03-23
I really wish that Mr Carlou didn't pronounce every word that starts with "wh" sound like it has a"who" in front of it ("whowhere," "whowhich"). It caused me to anticipate it, which distracts from the story. Other than that, great book, as always, from Mr Connelly.

Historia
An activist attorney is killed in a cute little L.A. trolley called Angels Flight, far from Harry Bosch's Hollywood turf. But the case is so explosive - and the dead man's enemies inside the L.A.P.D. are so numerous - that it falls to Harry to solve it. Now the streets are superheating. Harry's year-old Vegas marriage is unraveling. And the hunt for a killer is leading Harry to another high-profile L.A. murder case, one where every cop had a motive. The question is, did any have the guts?

Worst "Performance" Ever
Revisado: 08-14-22
"Reader" was monotoned and robotic, had no character. Terrible performance. It was hard to stay involved in the story with such a horrible reader. I hope that this was the only Bosch book he read. The story itself was interesting.

Great Story
Revisado: 04-10-22
Pearson's description of the woods, the fields, and the trees put me right there in the middle of the story. The fact that Lou Bolt played a major part in the story made it that much better.
The reader must be from Maine as half the characters sounded like they were from the Northeast instead of the Northwest. I found that to be annoying.

Historia
Los Angeles is a city of sunlight, celebrity, and possibility. The L.A. often experienced by Homicide Lt. Detective Milo Sturgis and psychologist Alex Delaware, is a city of the dead. Early one morning, the two of them find themselves in a neighborhood of pretty houses, pretty cars, and pretty people. The scene they encounter is anything but. A naked young man lies dead in the street, the apparent victim of a collision with a moving van hurtling through suburbia in the darkness. But any thoughts of accidental death vanish when a blood trail leads to a nearby home.

Another Alex Delaware Thriller
Revisado: 02-23-22
My biggest problem with all of the audiobooks in this series is that Mr Rubinstein gives Milo a New York accent. I also dislike the lisp that he gives most of the women and how he says "Noo-yen" when every Nguyen I have met pronounces it "Nwin."
Aside from the narration, the story is probably the best of the last half dozen or so Delaware novels, in my opinion. The twists and turns in this one felt smoother and more realistic, and the characters were much more down to earth and believable. I really enjoyed this book.

In the mid-70s, Steve Martin exploded onto the comedy scene. By 1978 he was the biggest concert draw in the history of stand-up. In 1981 he quit forever. Born Standing Up is, in his own words, the story of "why I did stand-up and why I walked away".

I Thought it Would be Funny
Revisado: 11-13-21
If you're expecting a fun, light-hearted romp through the life of a comedian, go get Marty Short's book. This one seemed to drone on. I kept hoping for something positive..Steve fell in love and got married or something like that...but it was pretty glum throughout. I wished it was good. I wanted it to be good. I still like Steve, just not this book.
