A little disappointed.

I've read this entire series numerous times. JC is one of the best writers of this century. I've read everything i could find that he's written.
That being said, I was disappointed in this one.
The author seemed...distracted? it felt more like a rough draft instead of a finished product.
I wasn't crazy about the back and forth manner it was written in. There wasn't enough details of the past.
And I really disliked the narrator. She just didn't seem invested.
And, lastly, the editing slipped several times.
However, the series is superb, so 4 stars.

Long, slow, and too philosophical

Not a fan. Way too much philosophical b.s. The conversations just kept going on and on without adding to the story. It was difficult to finish the darned thing, but I trudged on.

I enjoyed the storyline. I hated the TMI sex scenes. I wouldn't have started the books if I had known.

Oh my gosh! I love these characters! I don't think I've ever cried so much, laughed so hard, or chewed my nails so far down while reading a book. There were times I didn't want to finish because I was terrified of the ending. More tears.

Really good filler story but not a stand alone. Because I have read the other books in the series (multiple times), I was able to follow along. I enjoyed not having to rehash the earlier tales to get this story. I think it might be a little difficult to follow if I hadn't already been a follower of the Demon Accords.
I wasn't crazy about the narrator, but I'm not sure if it was just my opinion or if others might agree.

Great narration (of course). Really good story. It really brings home the things police have to deal with. The ending was a huge surprise.

I should have just got bought the books. The narrator doesn't fit with the characters in these books. I can barely tolerate him. It is so hard to listen to! However, the books themselves are really good. Funny, exciting, lots if twists and turns. Do men really think about sex ALL THE TIME, though??

A good book for a weekend read. The characters become a part of you. The narrator does an excellent job. I'll be reading the whole series for sure.

The narrator almost made it too painful to listen to. The writing was something you'd expect from a high schooler. The ideas were sound but this author needs more ... everything.
