Sixteen-year-old Jamie and her family moved to a small Michigan town during the chaos. Her mom is a Senator in a fledgling State government. Her dad is a mechanic and outspoken government critic. Great book for people with A love of Michigan
Revisado: 05-09-24
For anyone who has a love of the Great Lakes, and Michigan's lakes, rivers, and streams, you will fall in love with this book. The main character Jamie and her mom Marie exemplify generations of mother daughter relationships wrought with layers of love inspite of differing viewpoints and misunderstandings. The author does a fantastic job creating relatable characters that you would want to spend time with. This is a perfect book for all ages. I listened to it in the car with my 9 and 11 year old boys and they loved it as much as I do!

Fun mystery for all ages!
Revisado: 01-24-23
Wendy Day has done it again, i cant wait for the next book to be released... I listened to the 1st Sally and Pearl on audible, and the 2nd was just as amazing! The narrator is fabulous at voices and drawing you right into the story. I listened while driving my 8 - and 10 year old boys to school and back each day. They beg for more Sally and Pearl every time they get into the car. It's nice because it keeps my attention as an adult. I love it and get into the mystery, but I know that there is nothing inappropriate for kids to hear.

Historia
After her grumpy husband dies, Sally throws out his thread-worn plaid recliner, cashes the life insurance check, and lets her spunky best friend, Pearl, drag her to Mexico for an all-inclusive vacation using their Senior Citizen’s discount. They kayak, sing karaoke, and spy on the next-door nudist resort. Sally’s not sure if it’s the sun or tequila, but she is truly having fun for the first time in her life. That is, until a fellow guest turns up dead. While Sally fearfully packs her bags for home, Pearl insists they stay and get to the bottom of what’s happened.

fun, exciting, funny, heartwarming mystery
Revisado: 12-11-22
Sally and Pearl remind me of my own grandma's at the same time as I think of me and my best friend. Yes, there is a murder, yes, there is a mystery, but there is so much more. It's about the difficult times that we all endure and the friendships that help us make it through. The Pearlisms are so funny every time, they lighten the mood and put a smile on my face. These two women are relatable, and remind us of our best friends in my own life.

Historia
Rachel Hollis has seen it too often: women not living into their full potential. They feel a tugging on their hearts for something more, but they’re afraid of embarrassment, of falling short of perfection, of not being enough. In Girl, Stop Apologizing, number-one New York Times best-selling author and founder of a multimillion-dollar media company, Rachel Hollis sounds a wake-up call. She knows that many women have been taught to define themselves in light of other people - whether as wife, mother, daughter, or employee....

I read a lot of these books, I mean a lot!! I support Rachel Hollis in what she is trying to do here, but this is just not for me, I can see where many others may appreciate it... And just for the irony, i am sorry I didn't love this book :)

Just not for me
Revisado: 06-21-20
I was referred this book from a work seminar, I read alot of reviews. I feel like I understand why alot of people would like it. It is a great overcoming the odds story, but I wish someone would have mentioned the tragic nature of the child abuse. I am super sensitive to that and I cant get it out of my head, ever. I am so proud of that young man, for what he overcame, but I wish I didn't hear it.
