Historia
Somewhere out beyond the edge of the universe there is a library that contains an infinite number of books, each one the story of another reality. One tells the story of your life as it is, along with another book for the other life you could have lived if you had made a different choice at any point in your life. While we all wonder how our lives might have been, what if you had the chance to go to the library and see for yourself? Would any of these other lives truly be better? In The Midnight Library, Nora Seed finds herself faced with this decision.

Trigger Warning: Suicide
Revisado: 05-08-22
I am appalled that there is no trigger warning for suicide. The book is okay, and maybe I’d give it a higher review but someone needs to acknowledge in a place that might be seen that this book needs a trigger warning. No mention in the description and no other comments seem to mention it, but yet it plays a huge role in the entire premise of the book. And the author is rather crass about the topic and about mental health in general.

Historia
The United States is becoming a nation of rich and poor, with few families in the middle. In this book, MIT economist Peter Temin offers an illuminating way to look at the vanishing middle class. Temin argues that American history and politics, particularly slavery and its aftermath, play an important part in the widening gap between rich and poor. Temin employs a well-known, simple model of a dual economy to examine the dynamics of the rich/poor divide in America.

Vanishing Middle Class or Continued Racism
Revisado: 06-11-21
I don’t know what to say. Not a bad book exactly. Narrator has a pleasant speaking voice. But when the title says “vanishing middle class” I expect to hear about economics .... the book focuses on racism and it’s hard to tell what side of it the author is on. He refers to “the blacks” which is never not cringe inducing. He poses no solutions. Would not recommend.

Listened to the whole piece. Still have no idea what happened. Performance was entertaining, but it was hard to follow the story.

A self-help book masquerading as a business book

Join an MLM - not the advice for me
Revisado: 05-01-21
Author talks about how to make 6 figures working part time by joining a multi level marketing company. It seems to have worked for her, and that’s fine, but I don’t think what she’s pushing is something most people can or should get themselves into. Hopefully my review will save someone else the couple hours of listening.

Yikes - But in a good way
Revisado: 11-30-20
Yikes, this book hits hard with its message about the abundance of BS jobs. Really well written and thought provoking. His performance is a little odd. When he reads a woman’s voice it’s a little forced, but everything else is very pleasant to listen to.

There was a reverb sound that carried throughout the meditation, distracting me from falling asleep.
