Good Story - Awful Narration

The story of this book is unique, and has some interesting ideas. A Chi vs Dao cultivator scene is always fun to me, and the author has a great approach to it.

Some scenes get a bit edgy and cringe - when he uses Indifference it feels a bit like a high school kids fantasy.

Overall I enjoyed the story, but do not see myself interested in Book 2 due to the awful narration in the book and some slight issues I have.

This novel started strong. It had a novel premise, rarely explored MC type, and unique and diverse side characters. Sadly, it became clear the writing was more on par with a fanfic and stat block than anything else. I am dropping it at Ch. 23.

I have found Buryoku to be a rip off of a much more popular book in the same genre. Typically, this can be excused as the genre takes a lot of ideas from other novels in cultivation style books. However, this is a much worse version of that novel. The narrator does an okay job with a few characters, but the main narrating voice is not one that I like at all.
