Good books; terrible narrator
Revisado: 03-29-25
My listening experience of these well-written and otherwise engaging books were ruined by the unfortunate choice of narrator. His stiff, forced, robotic reading was endlessly distracting and impossible to get used to.

Historia
In July 1970, actress Elaina Styles was slain in her rented Seattle mansion along with her husband and their son's nanny. When the baby's remains were found buried in a shallow grave close to a hippie commune, police moved in - only to find all its members already dead in a grisly mass suicide. Now, decades later, a film about the murders is shooting at the mansion. On-set caterer Laurie Trotter ignores gossip that the production is cursed. But then people start dying....

Sepentine, satisfying suspence with a heart
Revisado: 04-26-24
Another excellent, twisty, highly listenable effort from Kevin O'Brien. The fact that it was it's included in the plus catalog was a nice bonus.

Okay, but the ending and narrator were letdowns
Revisado: 05-16-23
An intriguing and mostly good effort from Eskins though it was uneven and had a rushed, grim, disappointing ending. The narrator was equally frustrating. The timbre of his voice and his inflections were all wrong for this book and would have been better suited for a wacky comedy ala Hiaasen or Dorsey. Additionally, his consistent mispronunciation of the main villain's first name "Draygo" as Drăgg'-o rather than Drā'-go had me climbing the walls and even correcting him out loud at times. Overall this book held my interest but when it was over I felt slightly cheated.

Revisado: 03-25-23
Loved it. Author John Sandford & narrator Richard Ferrone are an unbeatable combination, and they're both at the top of their games in this new standalone thriller from the creators of the much-loved and highly regarded Prey Series. Thoroughly engrossing and entertaining from start to finish.

Historia
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

A total waste of time and money
Revisado: 01-17-23
I bought this audiobook based on all of the glowing listener reviews of both the writer and narrator but I didn't even make it through the first 4 chapters.
The narration *may* have worked okay for an oddball Florida comedy ala Hiaasen or Dorsey but it was so annoying and inappropriately chipper, upbeat and overacted I just wanted to strangle the reader.
I want a refund or a new credit.

An otherwise good story ruined by the narrator
Revisado: 07-15-22
Unfortunately this selection serves as a perfect example of how the choice of narrator can make or break an otherwise entertaining and well-written book. This reading was so annoying I couldn't get through a third of it after three separate tries.
[I wasted one credit on this dog. IMO Audible ought to allow exchanges in circumstances like this - something that happens a bit too often to sit well with this otherwise grateful and devoted Audible customer.]
