Historia
Why does a contented, satisfied life feel so evasive? What deep hungers drive the reckless purchasing habits, out of control accumulation, and crazy consumer lifestyle for so many of us? And why are we often driven more by what our neighbors own than what will truly make us happy? For many in the recent economic financial crisis a series of lifestyle adjustments became necessary as hours were slashed at work and paychecks diminished. Vacations were simplified or canceled, even important purchases had to be delayed and any extras were put on hold.

Incredibly boring...
Revisado: 12-17-15
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
I am struggling to get through this short book. I feel as if the author dumbs the content down and constantly repeats the same phrases again and again. For the time being, I'm stopped 2.5 hours in because he keeps repeating "enrolling in the school of contentment". Shut up already. Make your point and move on. I wish I could get my credit back for this book.
What didn’t you like about Heath McClure’s performance?
It's not the readers fault. The book is just miserably boring.

Historia
The circus arrives without warning. No announcements precede it. It is simply there, when yesterday it was not. Within the black-and-white striped canvas tents is an utterly unique experience full of breathtaking amazements. It is called Le Cirque des Rêves, and it is only open at night. But behind the scenes, a fierce competition is underway - a duel between two young magicians, Celia and Marco, who have been trained since childhood expressly for this purpose by their mercurial instructors.

Not as good as I hoped
Revisado: 12-09-11
Where does The Night Circus rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
This ranks in the middle. Does not stick out as anything special.
If you’ve listened to books by Erin Morgenstern before, how does this one compare?
I have not listened to any of her books.
What about Jim Dale’s performance did you like?
I just love listening to Jim's voice! Although the Harry Potter books are amazing alone, they were enhanced by having Jim read them. I actually searched for books he read and that is how I decided to buy The Night Circus.
If you could rename The Night Circus, what would you call it?
I have no idea...?
Any additional comments?
I was not sure about this book and while it was pretty good, it was nothing special that captivated my interest. I generally listen to books on my Kindle while I drive places. This book didn't pull me into the story line and I delayed listening to it because I didn't feel tied to the characters. I'm not sure if that's because this is a 13+ hour book or because the story bounced between characters and dates. Not sure if reading this as an ebook would have resulted in a different opinion?
