Historia
Monday mornings aren’t supposed to be fun, but they should be predictable. However, on this particular Monday, Stephanie Plum knows that something is amiss when she turns up for work at Vinnie’s Bail Bonds to find that longtime office manager Connie Rosolli, who is as reliable as the tides in Atlantic City, hasn’t shown up. Stephanie’s worst fears are confirmed when she gets a call from Connie’s abductor. He says he will only release her in exchange for a mysterious coin that a recently murdered man left as collateral for his bail.

Historia
Deadly storms have ravaged Mina’s homeland for generations. Floods sweep away entire villages, while bloody wars are waged over the few remaining resources. Her people believe the Sea God, once their protector, now curses them with death and despair. In an attempt to appease him, each year a beautiful maiden is thrown into the sea to serve as the Sea God’s bride, in the hopes that one day the “true bride” will be chosen and end the suffering.

Vivid and beautiful

What a beautiful fairytale! I don’t want to say more, for fear of saying too much and spoiling it - but - if you loved Ghost Bride and Night Circus, you will love this story, too.

Historia
Seventeen-year-old Aderyn ("Ryn") only cares about two things: her family and her family's graveyard. And right now, both are in dire straits. Since the death of their parents, Ryn and her siblings have been scraping together a meager existence as gravediggers in the remote village of Colbren, which sits at the foot of a harsh and deadly mountain range that was once home to the fae. The problem with being a gravedigger in Colbren, though, is that the dead don't always stay dead.

A wonderful fairytale!
Revisado: 02-21-20
What a lovely listen!!! Lately, I struggle to listen through an entire book; not so with this story. I was enchanted from beginning to end. It’s a good “old fashioned” fairytale - complete with magic, monsters, a heroine, and true love.

Historia
On a day that begins like any other, Hal receives a mysterious letter bequeathing her a substantial inheritance. She realizes very quickly that the letter was sent to the wrong person - but also that the cold-reading skills she's honed as a tarot card reader might help her claim the money. Soon, Hal finds herself at the funeral of the deceased...where it dawns on her that there is something very, very wrong about this strange situation and the inheritance at the center of it. Full of spellbinding menace and told in Ruth Ware's signature suspenseful style, an addictive thriller.

If you love good old-fashioned mysteries, this is the book for you. Both the author and narrator did an excellent job of creating characters and settings that were compelling, drawing you into the mystery from page 1.

Historia
The circus arrives without warning. No announcements precede it. It is simply there, when yesterday it was not. Within the black-and-white striped canvas tents is an utterly unique experience full of breathtaking amazements. It is called Le Cirque des Rêves, and it is only open at night. But behind the scenes, a fierce competition is underway - a duel between two young magicians, Celia and Marco, who have been trained since childhood expressly for this purpose by their mercurial instructors.

This is a lifetime favorite!
Revisado: 02-12-16
Would you consider the audio edition of The Night Circus to be better than the print version?
I enjoyed the story so much more than I thought I would. The narrator did an excellent job of voicing the characters, as well as lending an air of mystery and magic to the overall tone of the story. I definitely would have missed that in the print version!
What other book might you compare The Night Circus to and why?
This book is very similar to Alice in Wonderland and its "down the rabbit hole" surreality - but all grown up, with true love, sacrifice, and a very satisfying end.
Which character – as performed by Jim Dale – was your favorite?
They are all wonderful!
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes! Plan to get nothing done! It's a gentle story - like a dream, but you can't stop listening. It's so descriptive! I can absolutely see the Wishing Tree - and all the other "magic" acts.

Historia
A car accident in upstate New York strands Nero Wolfe, America's largest detective, and Archie Goodwin, his confidential assistant, in the midst of a family feud. The feud, over $45,000 worth of prize bull, turns ugly when the beef in question is found pawing the mangled body of a family scion. Solving the mystery is no problem - but, alas, the evidence keeps disappearing.
