Hard to rate this one..
Revisado: 01-05-25
The narrator did a good job, but the story just didn't catch me.. Not much character building either. Just finished listening and I can't really remember any persons from the story or anything particular happening. I'm giving it 3 stars, since it's not bad, just not very good either.

Uninspiring..
Revisado: 11-13-24
The plot idea is great, but the characters are too predictable and especially one is singleminded to a point where it's annoying imo. It sounds fun in the beginning, but 3 complete books and only 1 single thought in a characters mind is too much.. Another character has 2 things he switches between, again making it too predictable and boring. I'll have to return this, since I couldn't be bothered to finish it..

Unreal genderconfusion ruin the story
Revisado: 08-13-24
I seriously suspect the author must have, or still does, work for the Disney corporation?!? Not only does the author (not sure if it's a man or woman, my guess is a woman) start by pretending that a young man who's making a female character in the game because he need that races characteristics and it's not available as a male - try to make it normal that he, out of the blue, starts to think and behave like a woman.. When in reality 99,9997% of all sexually active guys who aren't gay, makes female characters in games because they like to look at females.. Then the author tries to make it normal, that the other guys in the group begins to be attracted to the guy/female char and struggles to differentiate.. It's just so bad that its ruining the whole story..

Revisado: 03-23-24
There's several other books in the same genre as this one, but it's very well written and hard to put down once you've started. It's a mmorpg-fantasy, so obviously there's some convenient OP skills our hero gets along the way, but at least until nearing the end, it doesn't ruin the story.

Historia
More than two centuries after World War III poisoned the planet, the final bastion of humanity lives on massive airships circling the globe in search of a habitable area to call home. Aging and outdated, most of the ships plummeted back to Earth long ago. The only thing keeping the two surviving lifeboats in the sky are Hell Divers - men and women who risk their lives by skydiving to the surface to scavenge for parts the ships desperately need.

1950s writing style???
Revisado: 03-01-24
It's so strange to see the author was born in 1983 and not 1943 when you listen to the story.. The only thing that doesn't fit, is the wrist computers.. Otherwise the mannerisms, the "self-sacrifices for human kind", the religious babble and the lack of obligatory gender-confusion, will send the listeners right back to the 1950s.. I got this audiobook for free luckily, otherwise I'd have to return it, its simply to old and stupidly "macho" (in the negative sense.. Nothing wrong with masculinity, don't misunderstand me pls.) Men are strong dumb brutes (or weak nerds) and women are stereotypically driven by their emotions and compassion..

But when they set their sights on Modern Miracle, a highly suspicious and fast-growing faith healing cult with remarkably good social media presence, even their skepticism is put to the test.

I love Yahtzee's humor and writing style + he's a great narrator, especially when being a bit dimwitted character or an aggressive dominant *sshole haha. I've got all the books available from Audible he's written, and I love them all. I really hope there's a lot more coming.!

Historia
One faithful day, Henry Tsien finds a briefcase and a ring within it. Within hours, his world has changed, as a helpful jinn introduces him to a hidden world. What can an old-school gamer given magic do in a world filled with age-old, hidden, supernatural creatures? The Hidden Wishes series is an urban fantasy take on the gamlit genre. It is much lighter in terms of "statistics" and its game system.

Great idea for a story, but..
Revisado: 02-16-24
Unfortunately the persons are pretty uninteresting and after a short while my mind was wandering off and I had to rewind a chapter or two to figure out what happened, I tried several times because I hoped it would just be s "slow starter" But I couldn't even make it to the end of the first book.
I´ve just returned it, stopped listening 5mins ago and I cant even remember the names of anyone in the story. I think that must be a first for me :D

The ending ruined this story..
Revisado: 12-16-23
The story is entertaining, not great, not terrible, but worth listening to if you cant find anything else from your favorite authors. My problem with it is, its like the author ran out of steam at some point, and thought we, the listeners, would be in suspense forever, wondering what would happen in the "final" chase of the "bad guy".. Problem is, if you keep on trying to build up suspension over and over again, and whatever happens is just the same result (nothing) - The listener will end up wishing the MC would just pick up a gun and shoot his own head off, so the story could finally end.. You simply don't care after hours of waiting.. "Do they get him now?, No.. Then this time... Nope.. But surely he must be caught now.! No.. Hmm how about now then..? Nope.. Ooon and on and on and on and on and.. you get the idea..

Biggest problem is the high/low volume shifting..
Revisado: 03-10-23
This is one of those audiobooks that´ll make you wish there was a "fixed decibel function" in the player settings.. The narrator has a very loud, almost shouting storytelling style, but often shifts to normal or even low whispering for a little while, then suddenly starts shouting again, and you find yourself constantly trying to find the "sweet spot" on the volume. But it´s simply not possible and you'll have to choose between missing parts or being screamed in you ears :/
Now the actual story is ok I guess. If it was one of the free books you get as a member (Audio plus catalog) I´d say "Yeah, get it if you cant find anything better to listen to, but don´t expect anything special.." But it´s certainly not worth a credit IMO.

Now the site of EBO’s first completed Red Cathedral, the Onyx Delta has become the center of the virtual world, and the entire player base is descending on Ned’s city to try their hand at the fearsome new raid and reap the game-changing rewards within. At the same time, a powerful, menacing guild is running roughshod over the western continents, razing every city in their wake and winning Frank’s obnoxiously loud approval from afar. But Ned knows that it’s only a matter of time before their forces sail east to the delta and attempt to burn down everything he’s built.
