I am so happy that this was my first book. after receiving a BPD diagnosis this week.

The narrator could not have been better for contextualizing so much of the chaos and dysregulation of my life.

The information was a wonderful broad overview of several important factors of BPD. I appreciate how gentle and thorough this primer onto deeper literature is.

I felt as though the contextualization was exactly what I needed in this way - I was struggling tremendously with accepting such a stigmatized diagnosis and came to understand that what I struggle through are expressions of adaptations due to severe trauma and neglect in early life.

Thank you so much for creating this book, and choosing the perfect voice of grace when delicate reassurances precisely what I needed

The Absolutes is an incredibly powerful story. So many beautiful scenes that have stuck with me—the snowy gondola ride, the walks in Central Park, the opulent dinner parties. I listened to it almost straight through and was so struck by Dektar’s vivid and beautiful writing. The narration is fabulous as well—wonderful flow and soft, comforting tone; the narrator’s voice seems to perfectly capture the nostalgia and emotional power of the novel. The story was addictive, leading me into the main character Nora’s obsessive love so gracefully and poignantly that I felt just as swept up in the emotional experience as she was. The questions of wealth, morality and shared reality posed by this novel will leave me pondering for quite some time. Thank you Molly Dektar for this powerful book. I am deeply moved and creatively inspired having finished it.

this was a gentle wonderful book that helped create perspective and allegory around so many of the large emotions I have navigated through my life through disordered eating. as I've been recently redefining my relationship to myself and my health this book has been a wonderful addition to the process, I listen to it slowly taking in each chapter as I saw fit and took some time mulling it over as I move through my home doing daily tasks. I found eating in the light of the Moon to be a wonderful oscillation between case studies from Clinical Psychology interwoven with Multicultural archetypal narratives. these are the stories I wish I'd been told about my body when I was a child and growing up, I'm glad to have found it now. and have suggested to several of my friends who are currently in their recovery Journeys from disordered eating
